How do I end this situationship?

we've been talking online/phone for about a week and he seems pretty smitten with me. but. I realized I don't like him like that. im a virgin and he wants to take my virginity but the. thought of him touching me makes me sick. his birthday is next week and I don't want to make him sad on it but I don't know if I should rip the bandaid off now or wait until after his birthday? and what exactly do I even say to end it? I don't want to hurt his feelings at all

Ugh dude that's super awkward. I'd say rip the bandaid off now and just be honest with him. Waiting will only make it worse. Here's what I'd say:

"Hey, we need to talk. I really appreciate you showing interest in me, but I've realized I don't have romantic feelings for you. You seem like a nice guy, but I just don't see this going anywhere physically. It wouldn't be fair to lead you on or let things go further when I know I'm not feeling it. I'm sorry if this is disappointing right before your birthday, but dragging it out would be worse. I think we should stop talking romantically from here. I hope you can understand, and that we can still be cool."

Keep it brief and respectful like that. Don't get sucked into long explanations - just state the facts clearly. He may be bummed either way, but at least this way he won't waste more time hoping when you know it's not happening. Better to be honest so you both can move on. It'll suck but is better in the long run. You don't owe him your virginity just cause he likes you. Just stick to your guns - you got this!
