Is it weird that I evaluate just about every person I meet as a potential romantic partner?

I'm bisexual, so that's men and women. Mostly peers, friends, acquaintances. But literally every person I meet that's remotely around my age, I ask myself "Is this person attractive? Could I have a sex life with this person? Do I like this person's personality? Could I date this person?" and so on.

If they don't seem like someone I'd wanna date, I'll still be their friend, it's not like I discard them. But I've never heard of anyone else expressing a similar sentiment of checking out literally every person they meet, so now I'm curious if this is an unspoken thing that loads of people do, or if I actually am weird for evaluating everyone I meet as a potential romantic partner.

I'm heterosexual but I did that with most women I met. One thing in my case is that I lived in very urban and fashionable cities when I was a bachelor so I found so many women I encountered plenty attractive enough physically.

I'm also relatively easy-going and tend to enjoy doing all sorts of eclectic things so I tended to find a great deal of overlap in interests with almost every woman.

The ultimate question was whether we're compatible and could get along well into the future. This part I misjudged for a good while with my early relationships since I was immature and not as easy to get along with as I hoped in the most intimate relationships and I also didn't even know what a most compatible partner might look like. I figured I just try dating a bunch of different women and figure out what's compatible through trial and error.

But yeah, at least almost every woman I considered a potential romantic partner, and every single stranger I met (both men and women) a potential best friend. I tend to really like people in general as well.

My physical standards also aren't so high. I had no racial preferences, for example. Any woman who looks healthy and slim was usually attractive enough for me, even butterfaces. Butterfaces I might not be as attracted initially but if I hung out with her for a while, I could grow to love her butterface.

And I find a very wide range of personalities attractive: arrogant, modest, agreeable, assertive, introverted, extroverted, not shy though (allergic to shy women), chatty, reserved, etc.

So I was genuinely attracted to just about every woman I met. The one thing I figured over time though as far as compatibility works for me is communication, especially during conflicts. I'm most compatible with women who seek to deescalate conflicts as much as I like to do and ones with a sense of humor (I often use humor as part of my de-escalation tactic).

I think everyone does that... Your subconscious evaluates these aspects and is what makes you become attracted to someone in case those values you observe align with yours. I do that with almost anyone without any effort from my side. Only if they start checking the boxes will I think assume they could be suited for a relationship, and evaluate that as well.

Personally, I don’t when I meet someone new (unless I find them attractive and I like their vibe). But I think some people also do this dating screening in their head when they meet someone new lol.
