How long did you date your significant other before you were sure about them?

Maybe one year with my wife, mainly because I was in disbelief at how well we got along. I wasn't unsure in the sense like I was iffy about her. I was sure she's the one if she remained like this.

I just couldn't believe she could remain like this indefinitely. I thought maybe there'd be some hidden dramatic side I've yet to witness. After a whole year, I started to become convinced that she's the real deal. We've been married 14 years now and I still haven't seen any kind of hidden dramatic or immature side. It still amazes me to this day.

I waited 2 months to make sure my feelings were genuine and I wasn't just being obsessed or lusting or infatuated. After I asked her out and we spent time together at around 2 months I knew several things. 1 I wanted to lose my virginity to her (I literally whispered "I am ready" when we were in the middle of the woods during a picnic she was laying on top of me) 2 I wanted to marry her. 3 I wanted her to be the mother of my children (we have 3 now) and 4 I wanted to spend the rest of my life waking up to her beautiful face and wonderful smile (so far that is happened every day)

We were together for over a year before it made sense at the time to get a civil union. Now it's 5 years later, we've had two kids, the relationship ended bc of domestic violence on both sides and her sleeping with 10 other people. I've since realized this person manipulated and financially took every advantage of the marriage that she could.

Point of the story is people change. The person she changed into was not at that point, hadn't made the decisions she had made when I married her. She wasn't a different person, she's always been the same person. It's the choices made that has sort of evolved her into this person today where she is anything but the one. She is like the antithesis of the one.
