Due to a terrible misunderstanding my crush mistook my shyness as a rejection which hurt him pretty badly even years later. I liked him all along and considered clearing the air with my crush and ask him out but my guy friend tried to talk me out of this idea since he thinks my crush would only see it as an opportunity to hurt me back for „rejecting“ him in the past. Do you think this is true? I think he could be right because he denied having feelings for me even after I admitted that I had a crush on him.

He is super confusing. When he used To have a crush on me he tried to get my attention by staring at me which I ignored due to my shyness. Years later he found out that I liked him back and then he would start teasing me by staring at me from afar. One day he stood in front of me 3 meters away and stared, I ignored again, which frustrated him and he sat in front of me. Another year later I confronted him and he said he never had any feelings for me but then goes on to make a playlist dedicated to me and stare at me even harder and talk about me to his friends who tried to ship us. I don’t understand why he would be so desperate for my attention if he doesn’t like me
