Do you think he is pretty serious if he suggested moving in together this fall?

I’ve been dating a guy 7 months and he randomly mentioned us living together this fall. It made me really excited because I assume that means he is pretty serious. He owns his house and I’m currently renting. I originally planned to buy when my lease was up but he suggested moving in together

Um well 7 months isn't super long to be dating before moving in together... but if he owns his own house already then maybe he feels more ready for that step than other guys would at your age. It's definitely a good sign that he's thinking long-term to suggest living together.

I'd just say make sure you really feel comfortable with the idea before committing. Living with someone is a big adjustment no matter how well you know them. Maybe have an honest talk with him about expectations if you do it - like making sure you're on the same page about sharing expenses and responsibilities, giving each other space when needed, etc.

As long as you feel like you truly know each other well by fall and can communicate openly about stuff, it might work out fine. But don't rush into anything before you feel 100% about it. And if you do move in, go slow with fully relying on each other in case issues come up you need to work out.

Overall though the fact that he brought it up is a good sign he wants things to get more serious. Just make the relationship is solid partner before fully joining lives, you know? Trust your gut feeling about him.

It’ll be a little over a year of being together by the time we move in so that seems like a normal time frame. We see each other nearly everyday now as it is. I truly see a long term future with him. We do need to discuss expenses. I’m currently paying more in rent than he is for his mortgage payment so at least I’ll be in a better place regardless. Assuming we split things 50/50.

Ah nice, over a year together by the time of the move is definitely more reasonable. And if you're already spending lots of time together practically living at each other's places, then committing fully makes sense.

Definitely have a chat about the financials - that's always important to get on the same page with. But splitting a mortgage 50/50 is usually a better deal than renting solo. Just make sure you agree on all the bills/expenses too so no one feels taken advantage of.

And it's really awesome that you see a long term future with him! That's the most important thing. As long as you both want the same type of commitment level eventually, then moving in together at the 1 year mark is a good step.

I'd say go for it! Communicate your doubts but also convey how excited you are by the idea. Maybe have a trial period living there first if you want before really committing long term. But it's promising he brought it up - cheers to the start of your next chapter together!

We have discussed this already. We both want to be married and have one child someday. The way this is going I could see an engagement by Christmas because I’ve already said I don’t want to have a kid until I’m married.

Before you move in, sry a decision date, perhaps in one year -- on that date, if you aren't planning a wedding, then you are breaking up.

I would not ask somebody to move in with me unless I was stone cold serious but who the heck knows what people think is serious today.
