Why do people pretend personality matters when it’s appearance?

So I’m 32 and moving through different stages of life I have always heard personality matters in dating and that’s just not factual. Personality takes a back seat to appearance more often then not it’s the guys with the good personality’s who are looked over for the guys with the better physical appearance.

Looks matter for people who date but personality matters for people who marry. Very few people are dumb enough to marry a bad tempered person who looks good.
