Just think about the things you like to do... and find an activity group that does that... you'll find a gal at a class, travel group, volunteer activity, lecture... whatever your main interest is. The more you put yourself out there the better.

(in my opinion, avoid the online dating apps and try attending actual events to meet people. It's easier to measure chemistry.)

The thing is though I don’t know how to come in partialy invested and that’s why I was so hurt in this situation. Some guys said I need to turn to the dark side and just change and start treating women bad but that’s literally not in my dna and not who I am as a person

How does turning into someone that hurt you make things better? If you have a hard time opening up, it makes things way more difficult. And I’m not saying this woman should’ve hurt you, but she most likely moved on because of how emotionally unavailable you made her feel.

No I was completely open I made myself completely vulnerable she was physically and verbally abusive and even in that I stayed thinking maybe things will be better even fending off some family members who didn’t like her
