Am I doing the right thing?

So I’ve recently joined Facebook dating, and I made a match with someone. He is 37 and I’m 23. We have been messaging each other and he is so sweet. He treats me with respect, he doesn’t asked me for inappropriate things. He’s not lazy and he gets up and goes to work to support himself. He even told me that he was raised to treat women with respect and how to protect a woman. I really like him, he’s really everything I’m looking for in a man. But I don’t know how to tell my family. Am I doing the right thing, despite the age difference?

Yes, but I wouldn't expect your family to be overjoyed that you're dating a guy that much older than you. Although I'm sure you and I both know it's not that big of a deal, unless you're planning on eventually marrying him, but age has become a much easier way for lazy people to instantaneously judge you, everywhere you go, including right here on this site.

Age-gap relationships can work. Be very careful with people you meet online and get to know them very well before doing anything drastic. I suggest you try to meet in person as much as possible to know if there is really something there before telling your family.

Go on a few dates and see if he is genuine or just a catfish. The age difference shouldn't be an issue. But anyone can pretend to be anything online.
