A close platonic friend of mine is in a relationship. He and his girlfriend have had trouble for years but they have remained together.

I recently signed up on a dating app, but I don't have a photo. Yesterday I received a message from my friend. He doesn't know it's me. While I knew he was cheating on his girlfriend, I didn't know he was on dating sites.

Should I mention he messaged me? I don't want to make things awkward or embarrass him. I feel like it is something we can share with each other. However, I wonder how he would view me if he knew on was on that site.

I personally would not because I’m not big on gossip anymore. On top of that it isn’t the sort of secret I’d want to share or be confided in about. He’s cheating and I feel bad for his girlfriend.

I'd say a close friend is someone with whom you can share critical information, such as this
