And California Penal Code section 502 subsection (7) says you're wrong. Unauthorized computer system access is illegal in most places and smart phones explicitly count.

Doesn't matter even if there aren't sexually explicit things, an adult has a basic right to privacy. Weirdos like you should learn to respect people enough to honor that, and stop making excuses for your sick behavior. Even if you think you're a god or royalty and can supercede the right for one person, you still have to consider the other victims, like the OP here.

Personally, I don't care about it because i don't have anything hugely secretive on it for anyone to see. I think people should just use it, for texting and calling, back up anything important on to cloud. and delete all, and just keep the contacts.

No difference. A wife's private phone is still her private phone, no matter who pays the bill. But a 25 year old son is a grown man and there is a SLIGHT point about who pays the bill. Unless this son is in grad school and isn't working, why isn't he paying his own phone bill? Something slightly off about that... STILL AND AGAIN, a phone is private. He was careless about not having his phone locked. I think he should pay his own bill, lock his phone and this is at an end.

Obeying parents is a commandment. You cannot override it by saying he is an adult. He be an adult but he is still obedient to his parents. This is clearly written in Deuteronomy. He must be obedient to them except when they ask him to go against God Himself. A disobedient son can be punished as well and there is a method for that as well
