Me and my boyfriend got into a huge argument because he thought I went through his phone?

Me and my boyfriend recently moved in together the day we moved in together we exchanged passwords. today while he was taking a shower I went in our closet for a few seconds to get something and went into the kitchen. as i was leaving out the room he was coming in the room to get dressed his phone was on the bed. a few seconds later he comes into the kitchen with a attitude asking me if I went through his phone I told him no. 10 minutes later he was leaving out of our apartment and told me he was about to go to his sisters house. I didn’t respond because I thought it was weird that he got mad because he thought I went through his phone and hurried up and checked to see if I went through his phone as soon as he came into the room. when I did not respond to him we got into a huge argument he almost moved out. once we stopped arguing he told me he only got as mad as he did because he's not doing anything wrong and thought I went through his phone for no reason. is this a sign that he’s cheating? Should I ask to go though his phone or just leave it alone?

Definitely suspicious. If you guys exchanged passwords shouldn't he be fine if you did decide to use it? How strongly he reacted to it makes me wonder if he has something to hide in there. You can try to go through it but if he did have something to hide then he probably deleted it by now if he thought you were going through his phone but at the same time I wouldn't just let it go, what if it is a sign he is cheating?

Seems a bit... unreasonable lol. Why would one think that just out of nowhere, and go off like that. Don't think he is cheating (But who can say) but he's for sure highly defensive and jumpy to conclusions.
