Because usually they end up having to work too, so it seems the women put in a lot more work into the marriage/relationship. And possibly when at home looking after the kids, the men might go out and cheat.

I can't help but think that even in a happy relationship, I'd be better off single or not dating and focusing on my studying// getting a better job and friends for myself.

Let's define "traditional " roles. A traditional wife will be a stay at home wife. Her "job" should be taking care of a family and making a home.

To dig deeper, if a wife works, then comes home and helps with kids, that's being an adult in a relationship. Men are still expected to work full time, take care of home, car maintenance, as well as the majority of their own needs, clothes, food, domestic chores, bad now add in child care which means they are still expected to fulfill their old gender roles but take on other duties, so who is being taken advantage of?

I say this as a man who was a single father of 4 (lost my wife in 2002 to a drunk driver) who raised 4 children solo, put them all through college and only once did I need help due to a motorcycle accident that took me 6 months to rehab from.

I'm sorry, but this argument falls on deaf ears. Life isn't fair, it isn't forgiving and isn't supposed to be as Disney paints it. It's work. You either work on a family or you work for a paycheck with a company that dictates your daily life. The question is who will be there to support you if a life tragedy happens? that family you built or that career and friends?

Cause I can tell you, at first those friends and co workers will be very helpful. But if that tragedy takes a considerable amount of time to overcome, you'll find yourself alone staring out a blank window watching life move past you.

I think you're confused.

What makes a "traditional wife" is the tradition that she stays home to raise the kids while the man works - at least until the kids are in school full-time. This generally means until the youngest is in 1st Grade and will be at school 7 hours a day. At this point, she may decide to pursue a career by choice or, if money is tight, at least get a part-time job to contribute to the household financially. Outside of upper-class wealth, this never meant that the woman stayed home for no reason to live a life of leisure and to occupy herself by spending his money, but this WAS possible for many in the 50s and 60s in the US because of the post-war economic boom as the US helped much of the world rebuild.

It was FEMINISM that created what we call "modern women" who are career-first and family-second (if at all), and who think they can "have it all": a full-time career AND have a family. This is exactly what makes them NON-traditional. They're the ones who complain about having to do both a career and taking care of the kids, even though it was their choice.

So, how exactly do you figure that it's traditional women who are exploited? That math isn't mathin'.

Should a traditional housewife just sit around watching TV or scrolling social media all day? Taking care of the home and the kids does NOT mean that she "puts more work" into the marriage. She has her roles and responsibilities as well.

So might the woman if the couple doesn't have kids or if the kids are in school. Women are not incorruptible and they're not automatically better or more virtuous. Case in point, things like Call Her Daddy, OnlyFans, the Women's March, "rage rituals", and so forth.

And likewise, men are not instinctive and compulsive liars and cheaters who have no virtue, no intelligence, and no control over their passions, desires, and impulses. I've listened to plenty of podcasts and read plenty of books promoting traditional Christianity and that tell men to stop watching porn (I just wrote one such MyTake), stop complaining, go to the gym, eat healthy, stop drinking so much, get married and take care of your family, say your prayers, and go to church.

It seems all humans are screwed in the ass. I think it is important to educate men & women that before you get marry know the person for a lengthy period of time and never rush so you don’t end up regretting it later.

The “they get cheated on” is a double edged sword, while the man is away she can invite someone over to have sex then clean up before he even gets home while women that stay home can allow their man to go out and get ‘lucky’. I’ve seen this in men that get stationed overseas: Sometimes the man cheats overseas with the local women OR the woman cheats while the man is away & can’t intrude.

It all depends on the character, personality, and integrity of the individual and sometimes you don’t even know your partner truly enough to prevent such a thing that breaks your heart…. It sucks.

Just because you are ‘traditional wife’ doesn’t mean you can’t go out there: Get a job, education, hobby, free-time, and friends you just need a good life balance & all will be good. You are a person and worthy of enjoyment in this life while caring for your family.

If you look at the original equal rights movement - the Suffragette Movement - they wanted the vote. They had the grace to suspend their actions during 1914-1918 to support their husbands, brothers, fathers and sons fighting World War One.

20 years later the women stepped into roles to allow the Allies to fight Hitler and Hirohito. The difference was that a far greater percentage didn't come back.

Those women didn't want a "sexual revolution". They certainly would have been appalled at the notion that fucking a hundred men in a lifetime, never mind a day, was something to aspire to. They knew their value without having to prostitute themselves literally on OF or figuratively to an employer.

In scandanavian countries where women have achieved all the goals of feminism (lots of high level degrees, no ceiling on what jobs they can get, can easily get high paying jobs) they mostly decide to be housewives because they realized it's a lot easier & enjoyable to be a housewife than to work like a man. Well it is up to you, as it is for me, to decide what your life should look like.

I was surprised recently when a female family friend told me her new ambition, (I had asked what she was currently working on), which was to be a housewife now she had hit 30. I was a bit shocked, throughout her 20's she had numerous business plans going and (via her father) had done property speculation before she could drive.

The punchline to her, was that men enjoy working more than women do. So housewifery was a better arrangement.

You might change your mind as she has!

Because I earn fairly well I'd be OK supporting housewifery if my chosen housewife had the personal qualities I desire. However I am more on your side of the ledger in seeing it better to be single. I am just not ruling a housewife out.

The truth is that’s a juggling act that most women will not succeed in. You can’t do this without the help and support of a man who vision in life is matched with yours. Even if you find him, you will need time for conceiving, carrying, giving birth, nursing and providing intimacy for him. This will come at the expense of your career for a short time.

Housework is very easy. It's not like what traditional housewives had to do. Basically electronics does most of the work for us. I've all my Housework finished before 12 and a meal prepped for my husband. I generally do most of the Housework but he will help out and he handles most of the home maintenance and outside work.
