Why do we look down on women who want to be housewives?

I'll be honest, this is something I have the tendency to do, because I think that everyone should have a job and make money.

However, recently I started to reconsider my thoughts. A woman who's friends with my wife (she's our neighbor) is a full-time stay at home mom. She's really happy about her life and how she gets to spend all time with her son, but what amazes me is that she's always busy doing something. Not only she takes care of the home, she also grows her vegetables, sweeps the road, and when one of my shoes broke she fixed it herself (apparently she fixes her husband' shoes all the time).

I'll be honest, when I first met her she didn't give me an impression and didn't seem very smart, but after knowing her better I found out she has a lot of skills and knowledge.

Who is “WE”? You know, one of my closest friends nearly had a breakdown bc she was so stressed by idiots who made statements like this. She went from being a top exec at a major marketing firm — power suits, stilettos, the whole nine — to marrying her childhood sweetheart and having many… many babies. (I stopped counting after number 5 popped out.)

Anyway within five years she had four kids and one in the oven, the power suits and heels were gone, replaced with mom jeans and fluffy tops bc she felt self conscious about her figure…. From dawn till dusk she tended to this enormous family — schedules for schools, doctors, cleaning, cooking, repairs… you name it and she figured out how tf to do it. AN AMAZING WOMAN and one of my real-life heroes.

Now mind you, we tease her about her hubby all the time bc he’s very grumpy macho guy despite being super sweet on his wife after 30 years of marriage. (We do it bc she’s always fretting that his love will fade bc she’s not the sharp, trim exec he married or the innocent school girl he fell in love with all those years ago… and he’ll just look at her and say “Yes, you are.” (AWW! The best, no?).)

But because of negative idiots roaming out there making odd comments about the value of housewives she remained anxious about her value and requires constant reassurance. For example, last Christmas her man got her a million awesome gifts to show her he still thought she was sexy, cool, etc., and for her stocking stuffer he got her a collection of wine stoppers shaped like curvy asses. She cried bc she thought he was saying her ass was too big. Finally we asked her very bluntly… doesn’t he like bigger asses? (Yeah he does) and has he complained about yours at all bc last time any of us checked you’re still cranking out and raising all these babies…. (No, he doesn’t complain, I’m fact some of the nicer things he bought her are dresses and evening gowns the accentuate that part of her figure.) So we all have her the fisheye and passed the wine bottle around, tossing the sassy bottle stopper at her. She laughed… hopefully one day she’ll be able to ignore the nonsensical noise about the value of housewives to realize what her friends and family can all clearly see in her — that she’s simply awesome.

Congrats, you’ve figured out the disconnect between the redpill community and the traditionalist lifestyle they so highly revere. Redpill men see women as inherently lesser, they see them as weaker, dumber, irrational, and their goal is not to have a wife with all of those qualities but to force a woman to be their epitome of what a woman should be against her will. I’m sure you’ve noticed how these men don’t want the women who say they agree with them, they want the fantasy of domineering a woman to the point they break her mind as a person. They have no real respect for women or for what it takes to manage a home all by oneself, especially with kids.

But traditionalist men? They have nothing but respect for stay at home moms, they know that what they do is something that they could never hope to achieve in the short span of time they would be required to learn if the duty of the house suddenly fell to them. They respect women implicitly because they know how important her role is to their lifestyle maintaining itself without any issues, and these women know they run their house and know that these men love and respect them for what they do. That’s why their marriages last so long — they agree and they communicate and they balance it out and make it work. Redpill men have no interest in balance, only being “better” than women. This is a good first step in you breaking down the misogyny you might have been taught that those men cling to but you’re not quite so eager, it seems. Good for you!

It's because Feminists (with financial backing by billionaire industrialists as far back as the 1920s, who wanted a larger labor pool to drive down labor prices) have pushed the idea that being a housewife is equivalent to being a slave, and that a woman's career is far more important than having a family. Keep in mind that Feminism was fully taken over by Marxists in the early 1960s when the Red Stockings pushed out moderate Feminists and began using Feminism as a skin suit to push the Marxist agenda of destroying western culture from within - with Feminism's goal to destroy the nuclear family, because that was understood to be a pillar of strength for western culture.

Today, it's mostly women who look down on housewives, and who are trained to have a career in her 20s rather than have children. And by the time they figure out this was a mistake, it's usually too late to have children - the biological clock will have run out.

A stay-at-home mom who focuses on raising children is doing THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK THERE IS. And it's hard work if you are doing it right, because you have to be involved and pay constant attention to those children. Such women deserve tremendous respect.

There's one major reason, and it's corporationism being the dominant socioeconomic system in the "modern" Western societies, supported by clueless feminists.

The corporations need a vast supply of workers that will drive the labor costs down, so they are all in for coercing women to join the workforce and to pursue a "career" (basically to have a walk through hell just to prove some point to themselves).

Now... The corporations might want it, but it doesn't mean they would get it. Most women feel more at home at home, and they would normally be unwilling to work in big corporations. Even degrading the economy so that a single-income family is no longer viable in most cases would not help much, as there is plenty of local, part-time jobs open for women. That's where feminism comes in. Working in big corporations and "pursuing a career", the former nightmare fuel for most women, has suddenly become a "women's right". Now that's much more appealing, isn't it? And thenthose women who can still keep their cool are getting ridiculed by feminists.

Myself, I consider a woman willing to become a full-time housewife to be a rare gem and I would never look down on a woman like that.

The nuclear family has been destroyed by capitalism, quite deliberately. It put an end to our agricultural barter economy, pulling fathers away from the homestead and putting them in factories and shops. Then they sent the men off to war and dragged women into workplaces normally reserved for men only, at a fraction of the labor cost, mind you.
Next, they told women they can “have it all”, and implemented no-fault divorce. Now the lords of industry have twice as many eligible workers to choose from. Consumerists have twice as many people to sell land, homes and cars to; not to mention all the stuff to fill those properties, houses & vehicles with. Of course, the banks get to disperse twice as many loans for all that crap.
The pigs just weren’t making enough money when one person could support an entire family on a single income and still afford luxuries like family vacations and such.
The women and men who want to go back to the traditional ways probably don’t even think of themselves as Pinkos, but they are. Only Pinkos oppose capitalism in all its perfect glory. And the capitalists like things just the way they are.

The only people who I’ve come across in life, who looked down on women who wanted to be housewives, were other women. I have female relatives who believe it’s a waste of one’s potential and education. As if taking care of one’s family is a waste of one’s life. It’s the mindset of a wage slave! I’d rather spend my days cooking, gardening, and taking care of my family lol.
Of course there’s also the fear of becoming dependent on a man who could turn out to be abusive, or divorce you and leave you destitute. But there’s no need to fear that such a thing will happen if you are careful about who you marry.

I think it's because some people might see someone who doesn't work as too dependent and useless. While I'm not a housewife, I do stay home and do housework while my parents are working during the day. I'll sweep the floors, wash towels, do my own laundry, clean the counters, table, and stove, dust, etc. And I'll help mom with prep cook for dinner if she needs it and set the table. So I kind of get the idea of just how much work it is. But I know a housewife does a lot more work around the house than I do.

I guess its bec the financial situations shifted it gotten way harder to support a family with just one income. Thus women who want to be housewifes are seen as unrealistic, demanding or lazy. About the latter there's many bad stories but ik ofc of some who treat it serious like an occupation. Then ofc you have the fact if your wife turns out to not pull her part in this arrangement and you want to divorce you will have to pay her quite some sum bec she didn't have an income. Again regardless if she actually did something or only watched trash tv all day.

In the end each to their own. I wouldn't consider a housewife honestly bec I wouldn't be able to afford it with my current income. I got a friend however who expressed his wish for such a wife bec he works very long hours each day and on weekends and would just be happy if there's someone to return home to and made the chores for him. He earns well.

I think it doesn't happen as much as now making fun of women who actually want to be successful and work. We are now being called masculine for wanting that.

It's apparently more feminine to be a stay at home wife or mother. A good bit of the "family values" conservative crowd push for stay at home wives even. Even people making comments that women working has destroyed the family system completely. I see far more push back towards women being educated and working then I have stay at home wives and mothers.

WE  don't.  Provided that I'm able to provide entirely for my family , I'd actually prefer a traditional housewife. It's extremely feminine and also makes me feel masculine.  I want my wife to feel happy though, so if she feels like she isn't being fulfilled from just being a house wife, I'd encourage her to have her own startup for whatever her passions are, do some group yoga sessions, go on hikes often, etc. But I think all of that combined should give you enough motivation to get up each day. Then having me for company as well to go through both the bad and good with you together...

In this day and age stability for life is unlikely. People get divorced, people get really ill and people die.

If the woman doesn't have recent work history and is middle aged, been raising kids for ten years, and she either finds herself in a divorce or her husband dies or gets sick, she will have a very hard getting emergency employment.

Keeping some sort of foot in door of employment is simply smart.

I only look down on the kinds of guys who want to be the "head" of the household and marry virgins who have no education, life experience, or survival skills.

The majority of society do not look down on housewives, it is college/university graduate middle class women of a certain persuasion who look down on housewives and they make up a tiny minority of society nut are able to cause havoc beyond their numbers because they are supported by MSM.
