When I tell my livein boyfriend that something is wrong with my car and I describe what it's doing , should he just go look at for me?

You sure think you’re the center of the universe. Get in line… He had no plans to fix your car when you came home with a problem. He’s not a mechanic you are paying during operating hours. He’s got enough shit on his plate and a list of things he needs to get done every day. If he’s nice he’ll try to make some time and put it on the list of things to do in a couple days or whatever when he has some free time and isn’t exhausted. Your car is your responsibility, but if you do things for him on a regular basis to help him out, I’m sure he’ll do things like work on your car on a regular basis. If not, then you should open your wallet and pay someone else to do it if you don’t know how. Your entitlement complex is huge. Ask him, when you have some free time this weekend can you please take a look at it for me. Then let it go and don’t nag him. He’ll probably make some time for it if he knows basic mechanics and owns tools. If not, he’ll probably say he doesn’t know anything about that.

I mean you should think about this he should be helping you now instead of when they get a call from work you're broke down someplace on the freeway and you need him to come get you and all it would have taken was 5 minutes out of his time to check it out plus end up saving you lots of money come on common Sense

But seriously. If you told him what the car was doing and he wasn't able to tell you what the problem was. What good would going and looking at it do.

I'm no mechanic. But my father taught me what little he knew about cars. And I've learned a bit along the way. I can deduce most thing even if I can't fix them. And for cars "95" or newer you can use diagnostic tools O'Reiley's will do it for free.
