I definitely would not find any difference personally, without dating apps. However social media facilitate engaging with people from all over the world which wordings absolutely impossible for me even on a small scale, let alone the depth permitted by online communication.
Dating apps are one thing and I am not fond of the idea bc it feels inorganic but then I never _planned_ on dating so I would not be logically drawn towards dating app n and, I do know it can work for some people so I’m not here to trash them.
Social media is another situation. While dating apps and social media can potentially be used interchangeably- tho probably not efferently- in my opinion they are certainly not the same.
Dating included or excluded, in my opinion if used wisely, SM can open up people to the world beyond their immediate environment in a way that is almost magical. There is the downside of course, that risks SM and all the technological sewage that can be drudged up, _becomes_ the world.
People in general definitely need to look up and get more.

When the Internet was young and dating sites (before "apps") were a new invention... they were pretty good. I mean it was a perfect opportunity for geeky sorts to pair off with other like-minded folk.
... But then the Internet got normalised. Capitalism moved in, everything became adverts and people became products. Phones made the Internet more accessible for regular folk too stupid to bother with computers... and they in turn completely and utterly shat all over the Internet and ruined it forever for everyone.
In the case of the dating sites, they got invaded by people who didn't need them but just wanted to use them for convenience... thus rendering them completely useless for those of us who relied upon them. And within a few years all the women went silent, the men were spamming pictures of their genitals, and like the rest of the Internet they were ruined forever.
Dating "apps" were just an even faster, more convenient and imhumane version of the same.
All of this played a major part in why I quit bothering with relationships entirely. It was more and more difficult to get into them, and far FAR easier to fall out of them... to the point where it promptly became not worth the effort.

While social media is just what it is: Social gathering, which gives unpredictable outcomes, which feels definitely much more organic, closer to how offline interactions are happening. It would be hypocritical of me to frown upon social media because they gave me opportunities I used. While dating apps, because of how artificial, conditioned their purpose is, turned me off right from the moment they popped up.
I would say it would be good as it would reduce online cheating where partner get on internet to flirt with people and do sextign even when they got a partner.

u When I was dating, I used online dating sites and had great results. I met my future wife on a dating site. But I didn't grow up with social media and my social skills were not impeded by a reliance on digital communications.
We humans dated for millenia without social media. Without social media, we'd still be dating. Social media does make dating easier, but it's not necessary.

So I do well on dating apps and alike. Something about being allowed to rely on looks and standing out works well.
That said I think for the vast majority of people dating apps are a negative. They trivialize meeting people which means we become reluctant to invest time and energy into getting to know people if they are not noteworthy at first glance.
Its hard to say as many other thinga contribute too. But in most of the world the amount of dating, sex and relationship has decreased somewhat.
not even gonna lie dating apps are mostly used for hookups and one night stands so ima put it straight if people were mature responsible adults mabie we wouldent have so many kids running around with bad parents after all in person contact is more important than one night of good sex and your kids dont deserve that and lemme tell you if its not that then the person on the other end could easily wanna hurt kidnap or rape you the sad fact is with any social media or dating apps people will never tell you there fears or there bad days so how can you know who someone is if you can't see them entirely?
I think social media has really destroyed the social skills of a at least a couple of generations now.
This is really a bad development not only for social interaction but for the economy. Employees today don't have the social interaction skills to work well together and that's a big problem. It leads to ineffective teamwork and suboptimal results in the working world.
There's no substitute for in person interaction. That's the way human beings are designed to communicate and the way they function best.
I feel I have missed out or arrived too late on every avenue for dating -
Never used sites in the good old days when they were free and genuine. By the time I got interested in them, they had all become paid subscription based and full of scam profiles.
Not a social media person so I missed out on the Instagram dating market.
Arrived too late on dating apps, to find that women's profiles are mostly catfish and fake, created by the app developers themselves with stolen pics from all over.
The only avenue I got lucky on, was chatting sites. Scored them all real-time before those too turned to shit.
Now, I turn to stupid apps like this one! 😆
It's easier for me to date in Dating Apps than in real life for two reasons:
yes because there is no trust, accountability standards with online stuff. it's made a mess with ghosting (distrust, insecurity). It's a disaster land out there.
but people find others somehow... through trusted networks primarily, but sometimes online dating. a lot of it is timing... two people in the right place and right time.
Date apps and sites used to work but now they are free ego boost for girls and easy money to be milked by app companies from desperate guys to get their message through a pretty girls inbox!
Before nightclubs were the thing, now social media has ruined the old school ways of life!
I don't think nightclubs were any different. Ladies nights were and are still ploys to get men in the door to spend money on drinks. They don't and didn't always work because you'd get a bunch of guys in the club, but only a few women, making it ye olde sausage fest.
No, I dont believe so. I attend events and go out often. Im rarley if ever asked out in person. Despite being attractive, younger looking for my age and my life together. I believe men and women switched roles. Men are afraid to approach due to Me Too movement. Being burned by Narc. Women. . ost men I believe just have up all together, with dating, with looks and their communication skills.

I don’t use either. Yet I still seem to meet women with no problem in my daily life. I am of the impression that those of us who do not use singles apps do not because our lives are largely spent offline to begin with. I prefer those who also do not use online dating. They just seem better adjusted for life away from their four wall confinements.
So true—I completely agree. Dating apps have made women extremely selective, and as a result, many end up chasing the so-called "sigma males," where 80% of women go after the top 20% of men—often the ones who are just playboys. This makes things really tough for average-looking, decent guys. Sad but true.
I don't think guys are going after the lower 70%. They are all hunting for some hot girl they hope actually looks like the picture she put up. Just like guys, if you don't fit the bill, doubt you're getting swiped on or whatever.
I think so, I've never used dating apps but just the aspect of you can do anything on social media and who knows if your partner is doing something behind your back. Now I'm not saying all social media is bad, especially when you know the maturity, respect, and boundaries are there. It also all depends on what type of relationship you have with your partner too
There is always that thought in your mind that there is, kind of sort of, less control. They or in their case, you, can look at and talk to, or worse, infinite amounts of people whether in a relationship or not. I think you need far more trust these days, and always that eye in the back of your mind looking for signs that things aren't quite right.
Exactly, that whole lack of control and knowing is what makes it so scary to trust. Like a situation I just found out, I was seeing some guy who just admitted he was talking to other chick's, but as much as there's that fear but sometimes people can hide what they are doing behind our backs
Forget meeting people on socials and dating apps just go out doing things or going to places you love and meet real people that most likely share that same interest

I picked the last choice. Dating has mostly been easy for me because I’ve always been in a school setting. I’ve never used dating apps, but some of my friends have. Most of them didn’t like them.
No difference in results, it's just another tool to find a partner. Not much different from ordering food ingredients vs buying it in a super market. Just an extra way to get the same thing. Not a must, just an extra way to find someone.
I'd believe in this analogy if ordering online and going to a supermarket were the same things, societally, but I don't think they are. I believe that having different options changes our relation to these options
More precisely, I believe that an easier access to goods, via online ways, generates this idea that goods SHOULD BE at hands everywhere and all the time. Thus generating frustration when suddenly they aren't at hands anymore
Not using social media for dating but I do use dating apps. They have their pros and cons like many things in life
Social media is cancer. It creates false ideas of what a relationship looks like from dating to marriage. All you see is the best parts of ppls lives. They don't always show the downsides as well. Also, people have harder time act
