My male friend has become distant since I started dating someone, why?

I have actually broken up with the man I started dating but my male friend doesn’t know because he is quiet and distant these days..

This is unfortunately super common to have someone whose a great friend but you have no romantic interest in but they don’t feel the same way. Now be aware there are some men who want to bag someone even by pretending to be their friend to try and have sex. But that isn’t always the case.

Other possible reasons is that he developed romantic feelings and now that you’re dating someone else he feels hurt. Even though you never did anything wrong to him sometimes when someone has their eyes set on someone to find out they’re in a relationship it can suck if it’s happened to you then you get it.

If he has no romantic and/or sexual feelings for you maybe he feels awkward being a guy friend with someone whose taken. Maybe he’s has bad experiences where someone he’s friends with before their partner got jealous even if he was simply friends. If he does have interest maybe he is trying to keep respectful distance.

To be honest I would be very direct and honest with your guy friend. Just let him know that he can tell you anything and listen without passing judgement be honest yourself as well. If he tells you that interest is there but you don’t feel the same way you’re being honest with one another and trying to clear things so it doesn’t ruin the friendship forever. Neither one of you are wrong for feeling the way that you do it’s just the way it goes sometimes.

Now that you’re broken up if you do feel something or even just wonder what it could be. Take things slow and communicate with one another to see if it would even work.

This happened to me, I knew a nice Italian girl who moved into my accommodation and we clicked more than any girl mate I've ever met, we were close friends for 2 years, she always wanted to spend time with me, coming into my work to say hi, wanting to cook for me, spending nights out just us two dancing and having fun, going to festivals together, going off on travel trips together, I felt like she was wife potential, but one night out she was approached by a round guy and she instantly wanted to date him, I remember being sick on the way home, anyway I left her to her new guy and after 2 months they were over.. she didn't tell me straight away I remember valentines day I was alone in my room watching YouTube thinking she was off on a lovely date with that guy but she was newly single in my accommodation downstairs in the front room with other girl mates

A week later she wanted to make time for me again, told me how he tried cheating on her on a night out, and he would cancel plans with her, so I thought id ask her out, say hugged me gave me a lovely rejection, then told me to give her space, she blocked me and moved out, i never saw her again, moral here, girls never wanna date guys they put in the friend zone, they want the guys what will waste their time lol
