#1 is this when I'm single? Then yes I've been the plus one for several lady friends. A couple were past lovers who happened to be single at the time and needed a boyfriend of sorts to keep the work wolves at bay.

A couple have been great friends who were like sisters that I would go and do things and functions with as they had paid for a dinner and plus one and wanted to get their money's worth so to speak.

As when I was married, I went once with a sister in law as her husband was out of country and my wife at the time asked me if I would accompany her. It was a decent meal.

I’d say it depends on your comfort level and the dynamics of your friendship. If you genuinely enjoy spending time together and it wouldn’t create awkward tension, saying yes can be fun and supportive. It’s also a nice way to help your friend feel confident and enjoy the event just make sure boundaries and expectations are clear so it stays casual and comfortable.
