Age gaps in high school?

I recently started talking to a guy at my school. he's fourteen but only has been for two months, and i'm fifteen. he's in the eighth grade (which is part of our high school) and i'm a sophomore. Would it be weird or unwise for me to date him? I'm also worried about people judging me or thinking i'm a creep for being with an eighth grader. Also, do you think there's any difference between an older guy dating a younger girl and an older girl dating a younger guy?

High school dating is OK in my opinion as long as it is nothing really serious and does not involve any physical contact.

As @Abbycado states, it is more the norm for a girl to date a slightly older boy but less the other way round. I am honestly a bit concerned and reluctant about the intellectual maturity of that boy. It is a fact that teenagers and young male adults tend to lag 1-2 years behind girls of the same age.

In your case, it would be as if you are dating a 12-13 years old boy and that may possibly cause some issues.

Rule of thumb for a lot of girls, by decree of parents, was 16 and not younger. Reasoning from my dad was if there was a problem, I could drive myself home.

It was more common at my high school for girls to date older guys. There is nothing wrong with the other way around.

One year is not that much. However, that’s still on the younger side to be dating in general.

Dating underclassmen has always been looked down upon when a girl does it. If he just turned 14 and you're about to be 16 then it's a little weird, you're at two different levels of maturity being that he just started high school
