I'd read that as: He's basically apologizing for taking me to a shitty place. It was awkward for him as well. Perhaps give him another chance and if he screws that up then don't try again.

The "otherwise have a good weekend is awkward and indicates that the awkward factor was probably you and not the space itself (at least not by the % that you're thinking the venue was awkward). Try to plan out the next date a bit more.

Reference to warmer is VERY odd. Why mention that? Were you in some -20 escape-the-room venue or something?
