Would you take your new partner to your and your exs favorite restaurant?

This happened to me once. I was feeling the vibes from someone there working there that my new partner must have been there with an ex or previous date, and when I asked him about it he said yes, but that the food was great and its been a while since.

I found it to be distasteful lol actually. Think if it had happened longer into the relationship I wouldn't have cared.

It was all new to me, new partner, new city, new restaurant. It ooened up the lid of his ex too, he wasn't too fond of her. I told him I felt he was using me to get back at her at some good, romantic memories they must have had there. He hadn't planned it this way, he said, and he had hesitated before we went in but he too knew by then I was starving. Lets just say we never went there again lol

If it was somewhere I genuinely liked going there. It wouldn’t be under any weird intentions I just have the spots I like eating…. That’s really all it is. A lot of places I haven’t been impressed by lately.

That seems like a way to reopen old wounds and also create doubt in what we say to our partner.

Cause now we took them to exactly a place we took someone else, people start to wonder how special they really are to that person if they're just recycling dating routines like that.

I'd shy away from doing that for both of those reasons

Yes, but not right away, I wouldn’t take her there in the beginning , but if her and I end up staying together for the long haul , I would mention the place to her and be honest with her that the only reason I haven’t taken you here yet, is because my ex and I use to come here often and then leave it up to her on whether she wants to go or not , one thing I learned about relationships, is to never blind side your partner , it’s the respectful thing to do if you want a long lasting happy relationship with someone , instead of just assuming it’s ok , apparently that’s why most relationships do not make it the long haul because it’s easy to assume things are ok , when really it isn’t. So it was very disrespectful that he took you to a restaurant that he has memories with his ex with right away , it shows his true character that he only thinks of himself. A new relationship means starting new memories with that person , not bringing back old memories with an ex. It’s the respectful thing thing to do , unfortunately there isn’t many respectful people on this planet anymore , most people have become selfish and only think of themselves and they wonder why they can’t last in a relationship

If it’s a popular spot everyone goes to that we also used to go to, then there’s nothing awkward, but I’d probably something different to order than what I ordered with my ex.
