Would you ever date someone that is widowed? why or why not?

My late boyfriend was a widower and was married to his wife for 24 years! She got sick 🤢 and died in his arms when she was just 49 years old.

She had passed away 10 years before I met him, but he was still very much in love with her! His heart was still broken as if she had just passed away.

He kept calling me by her name for 2 years until one day I told him to stop calling me Maureen!!

It's a lot different dating someone who has lost their spouse in death. They are broken in a completely different way than if they were divorced or had a break up with a live person.

But he was faithful to her during her 12 year illness right up until the day she died. So it was great to know that he was in it for the long haul - till death do us part.

Yes, I would, but it would depend on the person and where they are emotionally.

Being widowed doesn’t make someone less worthy of love , it just means they’ve experienced loss and carry memories.

I’d want to date someone who’s ready to build a connection again, while still honoring their past. Emotional availability and mutual respect would be key.

Tough call. You will always be competing with a ghost. That could be great if the dead spouse was an asshole. It could be annoying as hell if death has elevated the dead person to a godlike status in the mind of the surviving spouse. There may be constant conversations along the lines of "I'm not him/her". Maybe not.

Actually I have and it was fine. She still had their couples portraits in her house but to me it was no big deal. Sorry that she lost her husband kind of young, but at least all their kids were out of the house and on their own.

are they mourning... is a very important and pertinent question

there's acceptance... and then I think there's what you call "bereavement" and then, at some point, some people... are able to move forward and "go on" with their lives

if someone has been able to "move forward" then, whether or not I date them would be based on so many other things... rather than their husbands being dead, lol

Yes. So long as I suspected they were sufficiently passed the grieving process. I mean they're never going to be over it, nor should they be. But I wouldn't try to date a woman who was actively grieving. I would be willing to be listening ear though. We've all lost somebody close to us before.

I'd date someone who's widowed but with some extra caution as if it happened within a year or so, they may still be grieving and thus be unsure of what they want.

But I don't think many girls introduce themselves as widows, by the time a woman tells me something this deep, we've almost certainly established our connection already, thus I'd simply accept it and try to navigate this with the understanding of her fragile emotional state

A widowed woman wanted to be my lover; her intention was to swindle me and take my money. She kept saying, "No, my daughter wants it," "No, I don't have the money," and then she would set traps and ask, "When are you going to sleep with me?" I don't fall for those kinds of tricks.
