Please only answer if you've been through the wringer of a divorce. If you haven't... please refrain. Thanks.
Was catching up with a guy friend who's the same age now that I was when I got my divorce. I can't even tell you how surprised I was to find that he split and was dating again (less than a month after his divorce, which was finalized right around the holidays). He's very easy on the eyes, so I was not surprised that he found a new gal, however I did think it was strange that he found her so easily and stuck with her immediately. (Perhaps he knew her from before the finalization of the divorce... I don't know... it's none of my business.)
Everyone was happy for him. No one had a bad thing to say about him. Everyone welcomed the new gal... NP.
But women I know who divorced went through the wringer of being called out (even in church), and being suddenly rejected by friends and acquaintances with single brothers/cousins, and being harassed for "being a cougar" just for speaking to a younger fellow. There was no insult at all that seemed too low or too petty to call a divorcee (including myself). One woman disapproved of the ONE guy i dated after my divorce. She said, "You shouldn't be wasting his time. You should leave him for the ACTUAL single women." I asked what that meant since I was single and I'd been with the guy nearly two years. She said, "Oh, I mean UNATTACHED, TRULY SINGLE (no kids, not divorced and unclean)." She literally looked me in the face and called me unclean?
I remember asking the guy if he was just biding his time with me and he said no, that the idiot woman was just fishing for gossip, but after that we did grow apart bc his mom arranged for him to marry "someone clean" from back home "to make babies with" ... VERY ironically, those two are divorced now bc she couldn't make babies. And he's dating again, though dating around and not settling down again.
