Is dating a younger guy in my late 20s worth the risk?

Would you date a younger guy? Any experiences with dating a man 4-6 years younger than you in your 20s under CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

I am absolutely NOT attracted to younger men and I turn down men 2 years younger than me… but the last 2 men I genuinely became attracted to were younger.. by a 2-4 years… I only dated older men who were 5-10 years older than me. My worst heartbreak came from a man who was 10 years older than me.. he was manipulative, dl and narcissistic…

I was depressed for years over him and I finally got dressed and went downtown for a nice time.. I met this really nice white guy who was very friendly, attractive and he made great eye contact when he talked, he had a quiet confidence about him that I liked..

The only issue is I’m 28 and he’s possibly 24 still in college… I told him that I am changing my career path and going into nursing. He said he was changing his major from film/ production and he’s going into aviation. I felt like maybe he’s still figuring out what he wants to do and making it sound convincing in a way..
He just appeared to have a better personality and seemed to have good character but I’m afraid when dating younger , white men that I’ll be a mother figure instead of a partner… and my worst fear is them becoming successful and leaving me for someone younger!

It is never ever a wise idea for a woman to date a younger man. Even at age 30, dating a guy that is 28 or even 24 years of age has nothing but disadvantages.

It is a very well known fact and also documented in serious medical studies that men have a much slower maturity than women. In other words, a 20 year old man may have a maturity of an 18 year old teenager, which is something more than just worrisome.

A scientific paper states the following:

Keep your fingers off younger men because most of them only have nonsense in their mind and prioritize the wrong things in their minds.

I wouldn't say younger is a horrible match. Some times they just don't have the experience to treat you right. But really its about the person and what you are both looking for and if you are compatible. You will never know unless you give it a shot.

I'd say check for these personality traits then, instead of age, age doesn't say anything about his personality.

Same answer, people looking for a parental figure can be 18 or 72yo, it's about their personality, their life story, not age.

Someone genuinely happy with you will not leave you, whatever "success" they have, especially not when 4 years gap means absolutely nothing when you're 30 and beyond.

From my experience in America, women don't like younger guys.

But when I moved to Japan at 19... those chicks were trying to snag us when they are in their 30's to early 40's. I was with one of them for like 3 years... probably around 34 when I was 20... that wasn't going anywhere. If I married her, she's be fucking 57 rn. Yuck.

We called them chicken hawks... always trying to snag young guys and lock them into a relationship.

Hope that somehow gives you insight on your question... just figured I'd share that. From your story the age gap isn't that extreme.

I was married to a girl that was 4 years older than me for over 20 years , why I don’t really hold age as a deciding factor when I meet a beautiful girl that I have great chemistry with and connection with. Even though my wife through the years would make comments about our age difference like it actually meant something,, her and I still chose each other and loved each other for a long time. Everything’s a risk…… you date to see who you’re compatible with it’s great to think ahead. But the only way to know is to start slow and date. If it doesn’t work it doesn’t work.

But you don’t know unless you try. It’s different for everyone

You're 28, he's 24. You are not going to be a mother figure to him. At worst, he might joke with you once you become a couple that if he was young, like in the single digits, you could have been his babysitter. My wife is 5 and 1/2 years older than me and, when I tell her that, she goes ”EEwww! Don't tell me that!"
