12 years ago, I met her on a dating website. She was 33 and I was 27 back then. Went on 2 date and she invited me over to her place on the 2nd date, we kissed, that was it.
Fast forward to today, I messaged her on Instagram to see how she was doing. It took her over a year to reply. of course, I messaged back and we started talking again. swapped numbers and continued chatting on whatsapp.
We met up over coffee twice over 8 months and we both enjoyed each other company. We message each other everyday on whatsapp and it's usually 5 line message each time and there is always a follow-up questions like 'do you have anything planned this afternoon/morning?'.
We met up for coffee but we drove to a forest car park
It was quite a romantic moment for me but she explicitly explained that it was her way of relaxing and chatting to a trusted friend which I am okay with. She took off her shoes and made herself comfortable.
She asked me where do I see this relationship going. I hesitated and said something like "I want to see where this takes us" because she caught me off guard. Probably because I was brushing my fingers on her knees to see if she reacts. She said she is emotionally unavailable and that she wants to know me better.
We locked eyes for a few seconds, she smiled and I smiled. I attempted to go in for a kiss, I went in a little fast but I slowed down so she has time to process. Luckily she stopped me just before I kissed her. She said No so I backed out and apologised.
I apologised to her and explained I dont know why I did that then she responded "it was worth a try", It was awkward but we moved on.
When I dropped her off to her car, we gave each other a firm, pelvis to pelvis hug, not the lean hug.
It was a misread situation
I am even angrier with myself is that she explicitly told me she was unavailable 2 minutes before I tried to kiss her.
Girls, In this situation, what would you do? cut ties and walk away or give this friendship another chance?
