Nobel Prize laureate for the Standard Model. Steven Weinberg is happily one of the most unrecognized Astrophysicist by the public, yet one of the most respected and revered amongst people in his field, past students and colleagues.

Dr. Weinberg’s standard model won a Nobel partly based on prediction of the Higgs Boson which existence wasn’t confirmed until evades later in 2012 at the CERN.

I figure we’ve got some nerds amongst us so maybe take a peak into this bit of soon to be lost wisdom and see if it works for you. Weinberg makes himself available to the community surrounding the university he holds tenure at.

Why do you say "soon to be lost wisdom" though?

Thanks for responding to the post.

When I say, “soon to be lost”, I am simply inserting my own sense of urgency for anyone who is mildly interested in hearing the professor speak in person answering questions of the asked and the unasked.

He’s not a young man, at 85 for a mind like his we can hope for many more years.

But a couple of years ago at the Texas Book Festival, I did get to hear him answer a question from the an Audience memeber about bigger, better, faster atom shamers.

Does he think bigger, better smashers could further support his theories that aren’t yet able to be experimentally viable. Then also tagged on about funding this technology and does he agree?

His answer cheeky of course, ask any theoretical physicist and the answer will always be, YES.

But would and should government pay for it, private sectors who stand to benefit? The atom smasher (LHC) at CERN is 40 kilometers in diameter and crosses into at least three countries.

I say soon to be lost wisdom because he is my than his academic work that is published.

Wouldn’t you love it to have met Einstein?

Weinberg’s work is proving to be more and more relevant and influential. He isn’t retired or dried up yet some treat him that way sometimes.
