Why am I struggling to find content writing work?

At first people were paying much too less and I was exploited then when I finally found a good client, he started developing an attitude and all because I didn't want to chat with him all the time. After 5 years of experience I really thought it would be easier. Am I asking for too much? I just ask for 7 cents a word. I sent out so many cold emails, I even approached those looking to hire. 98% of them didn't even have the decency to reply back and some said they don't have any opportunities. What am I doing wrong?

Content marketing has been around long enough now that most of the new clients my agency takes on have already attempted it in some shape or form. We usually ask them about their experiences with previous agencies and content creators. Their most common complaint? “We just weren’t happy with the writing.”
