Parents, a baby sitter, or a nanny take care of the kid up until about 3 years old. Then they are typically ready for a private preschool or state run First Start program. To enter kindergarten (K) the kid must be 5 years old before the start of the school year. Their is a cut off depending on when the kid was born. So people born later in the year have to wait until they are almost 6 to start school. In my state, school starts some time in mid to late August depending on the county. After K you progress through 1-12 grades each year until you graduate high school. K-5 (Elementary School)/6-8 (Middle School)/9=12 (High School). Kids that fail a class or grade get held back a year unless they attend Summer School classes to catch up. Kids that excel tend to be placed in technical training courses for STEM certifications and often take Advanced Placement (AP) courses to earn college credit starting sometime in high school. After you graduate from High School some people go to trade schools and many student often attend a university. A Bachelor’s degree tends to take four academic years but can very depending on people’s ambition, work schedules, and personal life. Fewer people pursue graduate school to earn a Master’s degree, Ph. D, or some professional degree.

In Florida, I believe that the age cutoff to beginning first grade is that the student must reach his or her 6th birthday by December 31 of the school year. This is decided by each state so there is no uniformity.
Where I live kids have to be the age of 4 before school starts to go into prekindergarten. And school usually starts around August 15

It depends on the local school system's policies. I've seen August/Spetember or Dcember/January as uctoff points and the parents can hold a kid back sometimes too.
School tears begin in September, so Typically September kids are the oldest. But kids born in summer can go both ways. It depends on the parents. Parents can also decide to enroll their kids in school a year later if they feel like they aren't ready.
