Does this make me a bad employee?

I recently told my manager that I was willing to up my hours as summer vacation is coming up and I won’t have school taking up a lot of my time. But something came up, and I may need to put in my 2-weeks. I feel horrible as I just told them that I would be able to work more, but that was also before this situation came to be.

you need to take care of you they don't give a crap about you even if they say they do they have no loyalty to you if you give them 2 weeks notice you have done what is expected and normal

Work is just that - work. And exchange of your time and skill for money.

It's your boss' job to be ready for and deal with situations like a good employee leaving for another position or other reasons.

Well just tell them what happened and maybe THEY'LL understand. But it depends on what your relationship with your bosses are and how reliable you were until this.
