What did university add in your life?

Hello,
What did your university degree add in your life? Do you think it was worth it or a waste of time? Are you happy you have studied for it or you think you could have done well in life without it as well?
Being a university student myself, I wonder sometimes if it's worth my time, because I see my friends who haven't even been to high school and are doing way better than me right now.

I had social experiences and learned some, but I honestly could have cut about 1/3 of the classes I was required to take and done something other than a business minor. I think if I had like 2 months I could prepare a YouTube video playlist and learn more from that than college. I mostly got through college learning off YouTube anyway 🤷‍♂️ But different people have different educational needs and different aspirations so they could have a better college experience if they’re careful about where they go and what path they take

Screw the play list, just start your own channel. My nephew showed me a guy on YouTube, and he said he's a millionaire. I've been trying to come up with an idea, and it hit me last night when I was sleeping. I'm going to pitch the idea next week when I go to visit them. I just hope my brother still has his video camera and editing software. Our YouTube show will be conservative political humor. The show will feature my nephew and two nieces. (my nieces are not of the human variety)

I don’t think just starting a YouTube channel is going to teach me how to make pottery better or rock tumble better or learn anything, I need outside knowledge

I didn't go because it is a waste of time and money

I make less than my university educated friends but after debt (mostly tied to university) I am making considerably more than them

It's actually great I think because maybe you earn a bit lesser but you "enjoy" your life at the right time. University students have time but no money so enjoying life takes several years. That's the thing that takes my motivation away honestly.

I can tell you're from the UK, because you didn't put a "the" in front of university.

What did it add? Debt. If it's not too late, go to a trade school.

No I am not from the UK, I am a swiss-turkish 😂 but pretty good in English. From my side, it did not put me in debt since my parents pay everything. But I am 22 and still have 4 years of university to go so I have been asking myself if it's worth my time. But I guess I will see how my next exams go, if they do not go well or average I won't waste more time and will do something else, probably not university.

Classical guitar performance. I taught for years, but I got sick of it. People would say to me: "You're so lucky to be able to play like that." Luck? Really? I wanted to break my guitar over their heads. Practicing 8 hours per day is your idea of "Luck?" lol

One of the greatest classical guitarists was Andre Segovia.
He said...
If I miss one day of practice, I can hear it in my playing.
If I miss two days of practice, my wife can hear it in my playing.
If I miss three days of practice, everyone can hear it in my playing.
It's a never-ending battle.

Wow ! Of course I won't laugh. It's amazing ! I've always wanted to play the guitar but my father sent me to the traditional turkish intrument "saz" course since he loves it. After a few years just before to start high school I left it, it was a great experience but I won't lie the guitar is more attractive 😂😅 Are you still performing? If yes, do you earn well for a living by playing guitar?

My brother and I play together. We challenge each other to rerecord our stuff, so it's an ongoing challenge. When you hit the "record" button, we both crash and burn. It's hard to explain. We can play pretty good, but when we turn it into something serous, it just turns to shit.
We don't care, because our puppy dogs are listening to us play. Life doesn't get much better than puppies.

If you will land the career of your dreams then it is worth it. Find out what you enjoy doing to determine if you need a degree or not.
