Can cursive writing be considered unprofessional? How and why? Is there a time and place for cursive handwriting?

My employer keeps complaining about me writing in cursive. I work as a receptionist and must write names on envelopes and files for him. He came back the other day and told me that he doesn't like how I write and wants me to write in print form. I became a cursive writer during middle school to curb my learning disability which is processing skills (I chose to not disclose this to him) when I wrote in print, it toke a very long time to complete which most times made me leave assignments unfinished and almost made me fall to locally develop (Canada) in highschool but thanks to my parents that didn't happen. By writing in cursive, I was able to write faster which helped me complete all assignments that required handwriting throughout high school and college. My handwriting in cursive is very legible told by many people however I have had teachers and now my employer who hate me for writing in cursive. Is there a balance between cursive and print I do not know about?
