Is it next to impossible to see ourselves as exactly what we are?

Anonymous

It seems like most people either look at themselves as less important/valuable than what they are OR they are egoistical or even delusional.

I was taught at my first (hardcore) job to under promise and over deliver with tasks. There is something said about that when it comes to work. But you can come off as underconfident and unimpressive at times. Many people won’t even give you a chance. I learned the hard way this is NOT a good approach with dating.

However on the flip side you can think yourself as larger than life. There is some value of trying to fake until you make it. But there is also an old saying “don’t write a check your ass can’t catch”. You can look pathetic and even a fraud if you can’t back up what you think you are. That especially makes people lose respect for you.

So do we see ourselves as we really are?
