What is your opinion on proper grammar, and do you think that Grammarly (and other grammar correcting apps) sucks?

The difference is grammar, but one will land you and your uncle in jail, the other a commendation for you.

Apps like Grammarly are just a tool for people in a proofread rush. Even the tool isn't perfect - hence the need for school.

Grammarly is frustratingly taking it up a notch. They are personalizing the AI for each customer.

Although it is really good that it supports and learns the writing style of the user, but at the same time, my research papers are coming back because the reviewer is scanning the doc using Grammarly and it is finding errors in it. Surprise surprise!

In formal or official documentation correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling matter. Mistakes just look bad. No-one is perfect.
So spell checkers, grammar checkers seem like a good thing. As does re-reading what you've just written at least once and trying to imagine how the reader will interpret it.
If Grammarly helps you in this respect then it's worth while. I've only seen the ads (and can only lament that my phone cannot do a better job).

I think asking someone to use proper grammar with texting and DM is absurd. There are too many slang way of saying things.
