Do you ever think about the cons of dating someone who works a certain job?

Maybe i’ve seen one too many soap operas and Lifetime movies of the early 2000s lol. But for example, the revenge that doctors/nurses get on their significant others and be druggin them and shit. Or like how a lawyer makes someone mad and risks the safety of his fam. A scientist might experiment on you. A boxer or hockey player might beat the shit out of you. A cop might plant evidence against you. Its a lot of occupations i won’t date. A bartender might roofie you. A dentist might simply fck you up. 😂 All this stuff has been on my mind since childhood. Yet I’d still date a chef because if he's gonna poison me, at least I had one last good meal. And i’d still date a mechanic though he might crush me with a car. And the architect/construction worker might trap me behind a wall in a house. But yea those are risks i’d take 😂

🤣🤣 yes, I would be afraid marry a surgeon since they're known for cutting people open. They would have no problem slicing you up if they wanted to kill you, doctors hell no they can drug you and get away with it, lawyers are professional liars do hell no, football player tackle your ass when they're pissed , a dictator like Vladimir will hire a hit man to off you like omg. Yes I think of those things

Yes…I will never date a cop.. the domestic violence rate is too high.
I worry about dating a professional football player because of the head injuries.
I couldn’t date a firefighter. I don’t want to constantly worry about if they’re gonna make it home.
Dentist have a high chance of being serial killers.

When I was in my mid-twenties I knew a woman physician who was interested. I didn't pursue it because she was interested in having children and with a physician's schedule, I knew I would be the one raising them mostly. I wasn't interested in raising children. Other than that I am mostly fine with whatever a woman does for work. I'm just not into being "Mr. Mom"... LOL

yes... I always consider these things because they do matter

usually, I would not like to be in a relationship that has to leave for weeks somewhere far away... I would not like to be in a relationship with some that does risk their live to extreme levels... I would not like to be in a relationship with someone that has incredible stressful jobs, and I mean those that will obviously mess you up in more than one way... I would not like to be in a relationship with someone that has sold their soul for money or became greedy...

nor with someone that makes a living illegally or that does conflict too much with my perspective on this life

Its particularly not the profession, its the personality of that person. Doctors maybe emotionally available but there are some doctors who know how to keep work/life balance. Its not necessary that an athlete might beat you up. I have been an athlete and i really don't want to hurt anyone lol.

I know that being with a doctor means being with someone who keeps a crazy schedule and often lacks both time and energy (even worse if they're an emergency physician, which is what my dad was), but I'd never thought of it THAT way. Well, aside from a homicide detective knowing how to avoid murder investigation techniques, and so probably being able to get away with murdering you.

Also: while a construction worker might be able to wall you up inside a house, I can safely say you DO have the ability to punch through drywall, and force your way through particle board, and even paneling; they're simply not that strong. If you ARE placed behind bricks, you're in more trouble, but if you just keep bitching about Amontillado long enough, eventually someone will come by to release/shoot you.

The only people that would do any of those crazy ass things you mentioned are psycho or sociopaths.. 😂😂.. Plus most of them wouldn't be able to do most of the things you mentioned because they would need excess to the materials from their jobs and to somehow get past your suspicion if you knew they were mad and mentally insane.. 😂.. But, with all that said.. Yeah.. I don't know if I would date a nurse because well, I don't like hospitals and the crazy hours (which would probably be fine in the end.).. Plus, I heard stuff goes on with all those nurses and doctors.. LOL.. I probably wouldn't date a police officer.. I don't have anything against them, but it's similar to the nurse, and I feel like she would have a sense of superiority to me for some reason.. Not that I would turn down women who do these occupations, but they definitely would be far from my first choice.

More likely if I don't like what their uniform is or if they smell funky about a day's work, some professions more than others and some jobs just have unappealing work attire. I mean what if I wanted to date a woman sometime and she doesn't like cosplay or dressing up occasionally for bedroom fun? I mean if she had an ugly work attire or ugly work uniform, then that's not as appealing. In a romantic sense purely lol :P

And I don’t think I could date a sociologist just because my parents were in to that and I hate the “and how does that make you feel” moment. But mostly I could live with most occupations for an So.

Wouldn't want to date a pastor or minister or someone in religious work.

I'd struggle with the unpredictability of someone in retail. Or the hours in restauranting. NOT a deal breaker, but that's just tough.

That said, when i was dating i avoided women whose jobs demanded “on-call” hours. If you can’t commit time for dating meaningfully, you can’t commit period. Call when you decide to get off the fence.

A police officer is a no.. I've met a few in the dating world and they're were indeed arrogant, naturally suspicious and almost interrogating.

I couldnt date someone in the military because I would be constantly worried if they were fighting in a war.

I guess if someone has an important and demanding job and works 7 days a week and 12 hour shift I think it be hard to spend time with that person. They probably be tired and just relax and they might spend more time with people at work than there SO. I don't think I could date a woman doctor (maybe a nurse) or some kind big corporate job but it be hard to spend time with them.

Yes, definitely. There are jobs where the calling is going to impact your relationship. For example, I briefly dated an undercover cop. That was scary! And I won't be doing that again. I would also be very reluctant to date some other First Responders.

I dated a bartender. It was hard because she worked at night and usually on weekends. I went to school full time during the day. We did not see each other very often. A few times we actually met for breakfast.

Lol. Yeah, sometimes. I mostly just won't date a HR person. Or an actuary. Or a judge. Because they have to have a cold heart in order to do their job. And I want someone with a kind heart.
