I think that funding for research is going to wax and wane at different times. Depends on who is forming government at the time (and I don't even know if we're talking just federal or State funding as well).
I think it's a very safe bet that there will never be anything like a "stop" to funding for quantum physics research. Even at the lower levels of funding, I would expect there to still be ample funds going into this.
Quantum physics is on the cutting-edge of human understanding. It's a frontier that there is a huge amount of interest in expanding and exploring. I think that the more we come to understand about quantum physics, the more funding is likely to be poured into it.
I'm definitely coming at this as a layman. But I would think that you probably shouldn't worry too much about the current funding for quantum physics drying-up anytime soon.

Highly doubtful. There are occasional pushes for cuts, especially when the budget is being cut generally but at least in the US there is near universal agreement among members of Congress that science is impottant.
Honestly tensions heating up with Russia makes it even less likely because governments want to feel like they have a scientific edge on their Rivals even if the science doesn't actual give them a tactical benefit.
For what it's worth, I am a Washington based journalist.

Stop? Doubtful. The only thing that would totally stop funding, even to more frivolous crap is a total collapse of the government.

no... they would not want to lose that edge entirely, to private entities...
Interesting question
I certainly hope not
