like how did you pick your job, career, etc? also any advice to pick the perfect job?

Think about what you like to do, what you are genuinely interested in, and what you are naturally good at. Choose a career path related to those things if you can afford to.
If you don't have a specific topic or field that interests you, start with a broad/generic interest and expand from there.
Eg. You are naturally good at talking to people. Start there. Which jobs involve working with people? (Consider) Which jobs don't? (Avoid)
Terrible at math? Which jobs involve working with math? (Consider) Which jobs don't? (Avoid)
And continue to work your way out like that.
Also, keep in mind it may not turn out to be something that you are passionate about. You may never be passionate about a specific line of work. But if you at least center your career around other aspects that are important to you, like working with people, 9-5 hours, physical activity, etc... You can at least make sure that you pick something that is somewhat enjoyable and not something you will completely hate.
There is no perfect job.
The best you can do is try things out, figure out vague skillsets you're good at and like doing (e. g. coordinating, analyzing, problem solving, communication, etc) and find jobs that let you do that.
But always remember: you work to live, not live to work.
Whatever job or career you find, always look out for yourself first off. Will your job give you enough work-life balance to avoid burnout or health problems? Will your job pay you enough to live? Do you like your boss/team/customers?
Never be afraid to switch careers, either. Most people switch at least 3 times, moreso now.
Interview people who do the jobs you're interested in. See if you can shadow them or learn what their days look like.
I did all that and am now in my second career, which fits waaaaay better and pays nearly twice what my first career did.
What did you study in school and college? What were your favorite subjects? What are your hobbies and interests? Are you good at some sport? Even hobbies, interests and sports can become your full-time profession.
I was good in all subjects, English, Hindi, kannada, telugu, physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, civics, history, geography, economics but I was weak in maths. I was interested in science so chose science stream. I am a B. Sc. computer science and MBA IT graduate. I have done several IT courses: Cloud computing, Big data, AI and machine learning. I have worked as a data engineer at a software firm for few years.
I have also studied humanities subjects like public administration and sociology. I will continue to build my career in information technology.
I’d say if you're young enough try volunteering in some areas you're interested in assuming you qualify to volunteer. That way you don't waste many years of your life going to school for a profession you come to find out you don't like. I know a few people who went to school for nursing, 2-4 years who realized they hated it. Waste of time and money. Also if you can, look at ways to make multiple income rather than just depending on a job where you physically have to work. Trust me there's people who are in their 30’s, even 40’who don't know what they want to do w their life. I think as long as you're continuously moving ahead doing something, making money, you'll find what you like. Just don't sit around doing nothing cause you don't know what you want to do.

1. Some people just end up working 20 to 30 years at a job they didn't initially want but ended up working there long term to pay the bills. They didn't have anything else.
2. Some people choose based on what their parents want them to do. They get scared of what their parents think or want to please them/make them proud SO MUCH that other options (like having your own voice and freedom) isn't being considered. They are mama's or dada's pleasers.
3. Some are decisive early on because they just have that type of personality or they were forced into it by a traumatic event or some mentor telling them they gotta chose that (ties in with the parents thing in number 2, but basically it's the same thing). They listened to a voice outside of their head.
4. Some people jump from job to job/ career to career. Even though they are 50 plus years old. 40 plus whatever.
so yeah, either they were FORCED into it or they didn't have a backbone really.
Let me just say.
1. There’s no such thing as the perfect job. I thought the same thing…. You have to figure out what you want out of a job. What is most important. Growth? Big money? Low stress?
2. You figure out what jobs works for you by literally trying and exploring until you find your fit.
Sometimes it takes a long time to figure out what you want to do, but I think it’s important to figure out what’s most important to you and continue to search for passion. Sometimes you work crappy places until you figure it out.
It’s okay to have more than one interest. Try every single thing… don’t think you have to focus on ONE. Pick the one thing you’ll think you’ll like most. Find connections and try to volunteer or find community.
Good Luck. 😁
Some people work different jobs until they find the right career path they want to do. I used to work in retail as well as hospitality and I also worked in construction and done bush regeneration and i worked as a cleaner. I also studied beauty therapy and pathology but I found I prefer fast paced work that allows me to meet different people but doesn't involve any paperwork.
Pick something where your chances of employment are pretty high, such as a nurse or psychologist. A good psychologiest makes good money and will never be out of work since so many people need counseling and help with substance abuse or mental health issues.
Take your character into account: creative, orderly, agreeable, competetive etc.
Think about what you are interessted in general for topics about the world or your surrounding. Maybe make shorter internships to get experience in different fields. Do you want children and work meanwhile raising them or again after the grew up or not at all. How important is the salary or the stress level you want to have daily.
Lots of things, but also lots of different jobs
Take your time and follow the things that make you excited. Don’t chase money. Because when you enter the working world if you don’t like what you’re doing you’re going to be very miserable. You also won’t have a lot of time on your hands and my theory is what’s the point of making a lot of money if you don’t have the time to enjoy it.
don't just do what you are interested in. do what you are good at. understand that if you're not very good at the job, you will be first to get laid off during a recession. do something that requires a skill and is always in demand. if you're planning on doing lame jobs such as receptionist work or cashier work, you will find yourself unemployed once automation kicks in.
To be honest is really hard to chose a career. I struggled with finding my path in my early 20s. I studied something that was completely useless and did that same job for about six years, it never grew on me and I hated going to work. Decided to change my career in my mid 20s and that's when I found my true passion and it's amazing when you realize what you were born for.
I had a family to support so I went into IT. It pays really well and it is in high demand. The school part was very hard however.
I originally wanted to be a Tv newsman like Ted Baxter. I realized early that only kids with good connections get those jobs.
Well at 106 I would suggest gravedigger :P Really tho I don't have much to say for your path. I've just hustled from one to the next with an attitude that got me fired from some lol. The one I'm in actually found me because I expected it to just be another job.
lots of things you are interested in but what are you passionate about? what's something or a few things you just love to do? i was into medical stuff since i was a kid so i went into healthcare, it seems to be my calling anyways
It depends what you like. What interests you have. What skill set you have. And if you don't have it, are you willing to put the effort in to learn it. It's up to you to decide.
There is no such thing as perfect. Do what makes you fulfilled and happy. Do what you love and love what you do. Whatever it is, it’s up to you. All the best
First of all there is no perfect jobs. Every job comes with tasks you rather didn't do. What are your personality traits?
Start by identifying the things you're actually good at. Then identify jobs that pay well and rely on skillsets that you are good at. After that, you just start trying things.
Try to talk to people that work in the jobs your are considering. Ask if you can shadow them for a day. Talk to counsellors at school/colleges/universities.
Well, if you can't figure it out at 106, I don't know what to tell you. I mean you should be telling us.
there are job councilors that you can go to.
They as you a whole bunch of questions and come up with suggestions.
Wait... you're 106 yo and you still don't know what you wanna be when you grow up?
I stumbled into it, as i needed a job and as it turns out i love working it.
Try them all and the one you like the most. Thats the one I say go. for
At 106 years old you should not be worried about starting a career. You should be worried about what flavor tea you'll have next
Follow your dreams. If your dreams are currently unattainable then work towards making them attainable. Then…follow your dreams.
Start macro. Is there a class you liked over others? Math? Economics, business, marketing etc. Go for more industry and then apply for jobs. It’s ok to try shit out.
I haven’t fully decided what to do when I grow up yet.
U r 106 years old. aren't u retired already?
Do something that you really love and it won’t seem like work
Make sure you pick a career a step below the mans career so he doesn't feel insecure and that he doesn't have a purpose
Pretty easy for me. I'm a complete retard, so I went into construction.
Careers are a waste of time. Run for government office and just do insider trading.
How old are you before I answer your question?
Either you’ll follow society or you won’t. Either way is fine. Just be kind to yourself in the process
@at 106 , you should be partying with fellow geriatrics 😅
What are things that you like doing. Pick something you enjoy doing.
What kind of work do you want to do?
Where's the housewife?
I just go with the flow
Take your best guess and run with it. Yolo
The career picks you
Flight attendance is good
