Why are autistic people so smart?

Like more often then not they get treated like they are dumb and it’s absolutely scary how intelligent people on the spectrum can be when they apply their brain to something

I've wondered about that.

My layman's theory is that their brainpower is diverted away from social interaction and devoted to deep thought and analysis.

I might be wrong.

I have a family member who fits that description to a tee.

A brain that spends its time processing twice as much sensory input as yours or mine for a person's entire life, and you DON'T expect it to be fast?

Cause they don't have social lessons messing with Thier brains.

Look at a homeschooled kid you will notice lol
