I keep getting career rejections any advice please?

I’m really upset today and any wise advice would be highly appreciated please.

I was basically a very smart kid at school and got the highest grades.

It was easy for me to get into a top notch university, a prestigious postgraduate job and then I went on to do my masters and graduated with top grades.

I’ve never really experienced career rejections.

Since then it’s been really hard for me to land a job. I’m getting interviews and good feedback but it’s always ‘someone was a better fit’ or has ‘more experience’.

It’s been 6 months and it’s seriously affecting my mental health. I don't know what to do anymore and I’m started to feel like I’m not good enough and I might never land a job.

Any advice please?

Based on what you wrote and the age in your profile, I'm going to focus on the word "experience".

My guess is that you are really, really smart, you have the two degrees, a truckload of really useful knowledge, and the postgraduate job. So, congratulations -- that's a lot of hard work on your part and clearly done well.

At the same time, employers want two things (simplifying this a bit): they want to move the needle (make money, increase productivity, drive down cost, etc.) and they want to minimize training time, cost, and confusion/frustration. Someone with little experience makes meeting those objectives harder.

So... here's my advice: apply for jobs beneath the level where you're already applying. Do that to gain experience or finish a kick-ass project and make a name for yourself. Or you'll find a niche in that firm and start to rise up. Almost any job will help as long as you use the time and experience to demonstrate that you showed initiative, practiced leadership, and changed numbers for the better.

While you're doing that, volunteer. That shows you're motivated. You can also take those achievements and translate them to skills and employer wants (reduced the number of overdue books at the library from 8% to 2%). Plus you'll feel good and not be sitting around.

Finally, stay current in your field and network, network, network. Never pass on an opportunity to talk with people and sell yourself. I got a job one time by talking nicely with someone in an airport coffee shop and helping them. A gentleman at a table nearby asked me to come talk to him. Turned out we were on the same flight later -- he was in first class and was the company's CEO. He hired me on the spot. Networking helps.

Act confident in your interviews. Tell them if what they want to hear. Show them you really want the job. Be realistic in your expectations and apply for jobs you are qualified for. Maybe apply for a job that is a little easier to get, like the next step down from the job you want. Then that way if there's an opening, you get promoted to the job you want. What happened to your "prestigious post graduate job"? You could apply for that kind of job again, or whatever position is the next step up from that. Post resumes on Linkedin and Indeed. Maybe be open to working a little farther from home to get started. We all can't have our dream job or the job we want right away, it takes time and work. I'm not saying you have to settle, just be patient. Do some networking, it's all about who you know. Don't give up and don't doubt yourself. You are good enough.

Stop relying only on what you can see and start to rely on that which you cannot see... the unseen. Walk in Faith rather than sight. Invite God into your life, familiarize yourself with all of the promises He has already made to us, claim them, embrace His Word each day (it is transformational) and you will start to shine. Seek God, ask Him to guide you to your job. What do you think happens when you walk into an interview with the Holy Spirit shining out of you? Most walk in with only their qualifications, experieince and ego 'shining' out of them.

Seek God, ask Him to guide you to your job. He will not do this unless asked due to free will. I recommend you read some of this book each day, it's called 'Scripture Confessions Collection: Life-Changing Words of Faith for Every Day Paperback – 18 Feb. 2020by Keith Provance, and Megan Provance.'

I also recommend the book 'The Power Of Now' by Ekhart Tolle and use that to learn how to completely silence the mind / stop thinking. Then when you are ready get 'NKJV, Know The Word Study Bible, Paperback, Red Letter Edition: Gain a greater understanding of the Bible book by book, verse by verse, or topic by topic Paperback – 17 Nov. 2016 by Thomas Nelson.'

Now onto one very powerful example of how the unseen world works. A friend of mine that works with the visually impaired and disabled / hearing impaired was looking for a new job. I was reading a book about prayer by Joan Hunter and it had a CD at the back that I had no need for so I passed it onto that friend. She listened to the CD and it had a prayer in it to call for a new job and all she added to it was the location. Then the next day she got a new job in the location she had called for and a person that used to bully her that she prayed for (many years ago) became the same person that helped them. That is just one of many examples.

The majority it seems are very busy ignoring the spiritual world... but it is not ignoring you. There are also some people that can use the spiritual world against you and use it to take away your blessings or opportunities. But if you aren't aware of this how can you pray against it? Psalm 91 is an example. Do you know that there are people that call out your name to remove opportunities you may have had? Do you know that people will build alters with your name to steal your blessings? Our Words hold unimaginable power and it can be used for good and bad.

I worked at a job where a 'high powered' person was trying to destroy the company. I prayed against it with another and later discovered others did the same. The 'high powered' person left...

You fucked up, you should've been building up work experience while you studied.

Better late than never, though.

Look for recent graduate positions - you won't get anything significant or upper level until you have actual wor experience.

Barring that, network. Talk to your profs and your school's career office.

But good luck. Most folks in your position have had jobs alongside their schooling. You're behind the average, there.

I just went though this and I know it is hard. I work in IT and I have a resume that would choke a horse. I lost my job because of Covid. It took me over a year to find another job.

I just did not give up. I put all the rejections behind me and stayed positive. Every interview I went to I tried to picture myself working there with those people. Finally i was hired by a company that offered me more money than I was looking for. It is a good job and I have been there for a year. Two weeks after I was hired another place that I interviewed with called me and asked me if I was still interested.
