I always knew they were too good to be true. I remember my friend telling me he was going to one back in the days and he never got a software development job. He just went back to his job as a tour guide. Which it is a nice job because he gets travel thought, but I feel bad he has all that debt and nothing to show for it. $45k in debt after boot camp, and you can't get a job, and you have no degree for all that money you spent. Just a crappy boot camp on your resume. That is rough.

So basically it's a camp for people who fucked around at school and now can't get into a proper college and get a recognised certificate? Don't people check if employers respect a course before signing up?
What is a coding camp?
It is a part of the new trend of alternative education. Or competency-based education. They usually market it as an alternative to a college degree. They claim it focuses on practical knowledge and gives you in-demand skills to land a job. You know how many colleges mostly have professors that don't really work in the field. They are primarily research-based and understand the theory behind the subject they teach, but they do not have any practical experience on the job. The boot camp claims it will teach you the practice without the theory. So the claims are that it is mostly aimed at getting you trained and skilled enough for a job.
You will see many YouTubers saying how useless college is and that they just got a certification or went to a coding boot camp and landed a job and then were told to pay for their course online. Which can be true there are colleges that only teach theory without any practice which is why you have to do research and find a polytechnic university that teaches the practice along with the theory. Like at my polytechnic university all my Professors were working in the filed and teaching part-time.
So, it's mostly taking advantage of people who do not have the time to commit to college or who don't want to spend years in college getting a degree.
Thank you.
