How was work today?

This is me venting about work, you don’t have to read it lol:

Work was something else tonight.

I work at a restaurant and it’s valentines so it’s one of the busiest days of the year.

We were slammed pretty much until close. I bartend so there was me and one other bartender on. We probably made over 100 drinks tonight. I never want to make a margarita again… margaritas were the drink of the night tonight

We would go through 15 tickets of drinks, turn around for 30 seconds, and then there would be 15 more drinks printing out.

We also had tables and the whole bar top to serve.

My coworkers were pissing me off. The opening bartender is really petty. So when she’s upset about the close from the night before, she doesn’t do her job. Cause her logic is “well the closer didn’t do this and didn’t do that, so I’m not gonna do anything either 🙄🙄🙄”

Like girly pop, I didn’t close last night. So I don’t know why you’re taking it out on MY shift and fucking ME over.

there was another coworker who wasn’t scheduled to bartend, just serving. but they put her in the cafe (the area around the bar) specifically so she could help us with drinks. And she didn’t… at one point I kinda gave her some attitude lol. She was waiting by the bar for us to make her drinks and I looked at her said “Are you waiting for drinks? So make them”.

It’s way too busy for someone who knows how to bartend to just stand there and stare at us. Like girl if you don’t come behind this bar and help make some fucking drinks…

we were ALL going through it tonight. The kitchen was slammed, food was taking forever.
The dish washer started throwing dishes against the wall…
it was a fun night.

all of that and I made $95 lol. That’s not including my tip share though. I get a certain percent of the sales for every drink I make.

So my tip share should be really good but I don’t get it until tomorrow.

I read it all, man. Been out of the business for about twelve years, worked more as a bouncer, but I was working floor manager shifts a lot too, especially on big nights like these. This took me right back lmao. Not necessarily Valentine’s Day, but college-based shit like Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, Graduation Weekend. St. Patrick’s Day, holy fuck, don’t get me started.

But yeah, I don’t know your coworkers, but I’ve had each and every one of those people working alongside of me. Just cut the extra limes and shut the fuck up, it’s go time. Good on you for not screaming at the dead weight behind the bar just looking around, I might’ve lost my shit, lmao. Make some drinks or get out of the way. And I’m imagining the kitchen lmfao. I don’t know if your place is more chefs or more of a line cook type of place, but either kind brings a special brand of heat. I remember some wild battles at the expo window between waitresses and the kitchen crew. Things were said, feelings were hurt, lmfao.

Anyway….. it’s over, bro. There’ll be others like this, but this one is at least in the rearview. Kick your feet up, have a drink, smoke a bowl, do whatever puts you at ease. You’re alive💪

But yeah I wish I yelled at that server. I’m not usually the type to yell though. I might get a bit sassy but I try not to get too angry. Especisllg not throwing dishes at the wall kind of angry lol. that was a crazy thing to witness.
And yeah I’ve seen some crazy arguments. Between hosts and servers, servers and line cooks, bussers and servers. I live for the drama honestly, it’s very entertaining.
But yeah, I’m already smoking bro lol. Just waiting for my Taco Bell to arrive

Haha, no worries. I read the first sentence or two and was like “this poor kid has been THROUGH IT”, lmao, and no one has any attention span on here, so I thought I’d lend my functional one and read something longer than two sentences😂

Yeah, I wasn’t a big yeller either, I’m just goofin’, but there were definitely times like this when I wanted to explode. I guess I exploded more than a few times bouncing, lmao, but yelling at coworkers isn’t my thing. Amazing how far some people’s heads are up their own asses, though, just mind boggling, haha. Zero situational awareness🤦‍♂️

But the good news is, you have all sorts of drama fodder, and you can go in for what should be a much more casual night than last, and you can just get your full of the leftover drama from the night before😂 Industry folks are built for this though. You go crazy one night, can’t stand to look at someone, then you walk in for the next shift like “Hey, Kelly, how are ya, hon?”🤦‍♂️😂

Well at least you didn't start at 5am with just 4h of sleep, then kneel in human piss, have a battery drill thrown at your head, then drive 4 hours to an appointment only to turn around and go back to work because the client simply "didn't like the product" after you'd spent the past week building and configuring it exactly to the specifications they'd asked for. I got back at 8pm after working a 15h day, only got paid for 8 of those hours, and only got 15 minutes of break all day.

I did read it all, it can be really annoying when a co-worker doesn't pull their weight. I do get some of the same, since I'm pretty much at the bottom of the seniority list I seem to get more than my share of shit routes, but I do love my job and I'm very well paid for what I do, so it's all good. Today was an example of that, it should've been an easy day but my passengers had me waiting for almost 4 hours longer that they were scheduled, forcing me to do a ton of extra paperwork, not to mention wasting my time. Seems whenever you're dealing with the public inconsideration is pretty much a given in today's world.
