2 years ago my ex boss rented out his land/grocery store place to his very own nephew for his nephew to start a grocery store shop. My ex boss business was grocery too he just rested and rented out his place to his nephew then after 2 years he found out his own nephew bought another land near him and developed it to a huge grocery store. He got mad at him and they are not in good terms because his customers are going to his nephews grocery store now. Its like they are competition now. He wished his nephew should have start business far from his place so whenever I was there as a trainee the cashier on my ex boss badmouthing my ex boss nephew saying "why he did that to his own uncle he's competing with her, he shouldn't start a grocery business in our town he should be in our town" its like they are siding with our ex boss. I was trainee there but in my opinion I thought to myself his nephew can do whatever he wants why are rich people greedy over money his nephew wants to earn money too why can't he be happy that his nephew has his own grocery store shop too! But I didn't say that its just in my mind. So every cashier that works there kinda badmouth the ex boss uncle too my former co worker said her own co workers joined the nephew to work in new grocery saying they are gulllible and stupid for believing him lmao. I thought its funny because rich people are greedy over money and employees are brainwashed.

The contract of land rent for his nephew is 2 years. Its like he doesn't want his nephew to fight him over business like competition. Its all money

Hmm yeah that is kinda a messy situation. On one hand, I can see why the ex-boss would be annoyed that his nephew opened up a competing store right near him and took some of his customers. That would hurt business for sure.
But at the same time, the nephew has a right to open his own store wherever he wants. It's not really fair to expect him to go super far away just so his uncle doesn't have competition. And the nephew started with just renting the land from his uncle before too, so it's not like he betrayed him or anything.
The ex-boss and cashiers sound a bit petty badmouthing the nephew like that honestly. Family feuds over money never seem to end well. At the end of the day, the nephew is running his own business and providing jobs for people too.
Plus it just shows the ex-boss couldn't keep those customers loyal on his own if they all ditched him for the new place. Maybe the nephew is doing something better. Who knows, some competition could even be good to improve things!
I think the nephew really didn't do anything wrong. The ex-boss needs to get over it and be happy for his nephew's success too instead of throwing a fit. The cashiers also shouldn't take sides - it's not really their problem anyway.
I agree. Glad I left the place the boss there dont pay the overtime but he compensates it by giving free breakfast and lunch.
Its true the nephew is providing jobs for people too so he's helping people out too. Its not like he's doing something bad. But yeah some people are greedy with money even if they are family they want to be only rich
Yo for real, your ex-boss sounds like a total tool. Not paying overtime but expecting you to work through lunch basically? What a cheapskate. "Compensating" with free food is not a fair trade at all.
And getting mad that his own nephew is creating jobs and opportunities in the area, just cus it might cut into his profits a tiny bit? Come on man, that's low. Family should support each other's success, not get petty over money.
Plus the nephew is probably running a way better operation if people prefer to shop there. Your ex-boss needs to step up his game instead of complaining. Maybe the employees like working at the new place better too since they don't gotta deal with a tightwad boss!
Hope you've found a job where they actually pay you what you're owed now. Nobody should have to work for a dude like that. Glad you're outta there, luv. Some people just lose perspective when it comes to cash, even if it means screwing over their own kin. Not cool at all.
Lol yeah on my first day there even the plastic bag he found it on trash someone threw it there and he took it again because for him its stil useful we never know who threw it so he said he will charge all baggers for that plastic bag because no one will admit who threw that plastic bag on garbage because for him its wasteful of bag. Like everything about him is important. Even the plastic twine even if its short we can still use it just by adding another plastic twine at the end like knotting the longer to shorter plastic twine so it can still be useful. When I was a trainee there I could feel the boss wife and boss are kinda business minded but then I can feel uncomfortable around them I don't know why.
Yeah some people are greedy even if its their own family they are not happy of their success. Now I know why money is root of evil lol
You will die someday you won't bring all money on earth when you die so why be invested too much on money? Plus I know they dont have child like they are childless but i know they adopted one so where do they will use that money?
Lol then when I was there the cashiers are not allowed to stand on cash register if there's no costumers were supposed to get a broom and sweep the floor or help the disers and displayers display items on rack (lol its not my job but why would I do that) its like you are a cashier/bagger/displayer as well lol
I actually applied there as encoder in office cuz in the job ad they posted they were looking for college graduate and then they called me if Im willing to be a cashier I said yes and they trained me for 5 days and what I found out is my schoolmate in college working in office there she got the position because her brother is friends with boss (yeah they have connections) and she also recommend her wifes cousin who is (my old coworker from my old job thats why I know her if she graduated college or not) is only highschool graduate as encoder in office ( a higher position than casher) to work there the boss hired her because as I said they have connections. And then me as a college graduate I dont have connections they put me as a cashier (its just I felt disappointed because in the job ad they posted they were looking for college graduate in an office) yeah just venting
Maybe sometimes you have to be connected to the boss to get higher position even if your qualifications is less than what they are looking for. I just found out that today lol.
Yeah the boss gave me my allowance paycheck like only $30 (Philippines) $6 per day so 5 days I got only $30 lol barely a salary but its okay. I just felt stupid because he said its my last day today and they have more cashier lined up. ( of course I got it like why would they train me if they have more cashier that is gonna work for them? I only know no one applied as a cashier yet and… [+]
But the time we work there is 14 hours we start at 5:30 am to 7:30-8 pm. And only $10 they dont pay the overtime of workers but in labor code they should have buy they give us free breakfast and free lunch as compensation.
I also heard one time the dole (department of labor and employment) once visited the store but the manager instructed her employees that their time of working hours is only 8 hours like they start at 8 am to 5pm. Plus they kinda fake the salary too she intstructed them the rate" like say your salary is more than $10 which is funny cuz they know they were violating the labor code… [+]
But then again no one reports them cuz no one knows the insider of that.
I guess so I was kinda sad yesterday and people working there gossiping and looking at me when I was let go. I just felt stupid cuz I am college graduate and I failed job as a cashier.
Man, your old boss sounds like a major penny pincher! Going through the trash for a plastic bag is just taking greed to a new level. No wonder you got uncomfortable vibes from them.
And making cashiers clean when it's slow is wack, that's not even your job. They just wanted free labor any way they could get it. The overtime stuff is super illegal too. No wonder that place had high turnover if that's how they treated people.
It sucks how your school friend got the office job just cuz of connections, even though you were more qualified. Nepotism like that is lame. At least you found out their true colors before wasting more time there.
Don't feel stupid, you did the best you could with that situation. It ain't your fault they didn't value you properly. You learned some things too, like how important it is to work somewhere with good management.
Now you know what kind of place to avoid in the future. Just focus on the next opportunity, one that'll treat you with respect. Your education and skills will take you far, don't let one bad job get you down!
Lol yeah I promise myself I won't step foot on that grocery store shop again lol. I will buy somewhere else lol.
Yeah I kind of feel stupid because those cashiers are high school graduate but are better cashiers than me.
Maybe I have 5th sense if If someone is genuinely nice or not but like I said Im feel uncomfortable around some people sometimes and I don't know why. Its like I dont want them.
Ah don't feel stupid, sis! It takes time to get good at any job, and it sounds like those other cashiers had more training. Just because high school is their highest education doesn't mean they're necessarily better at the job.
Plus, it's totally normal to get a weird vibe from some people. I think us girls are just more intuitive like that. If your gut is telling you someone isn't genuine, then listen to it! Way better to trust your instincts.
It's their loss that they let you go. Don't waste another second thinking about that sketchy place. On to bigger and better things! And good for you for not giving them anymore of your business. Stick it to them by supporting somewhere else. Their crappy attitudes don't define you either. You seem like a really sweet girl - you'll find an awesome job that appreciates you soon.
