Why did my lecturer include my name as second author on her own research even though I didn't contribute anything?

That's super weird. I can't think of any good reason why your teacher would put your name on her research if you didn't actually do any work on it. A couple possibilities I can think of:

- She's trying to pad her publication list and make it look like more people are involved than actually are. Kinda shady if you ask me.

- Maybe she wants your name on it to help you out somehow? Like make you look better if you apply for grad school or something later on. But still weird to do without even talking to you.

- Could be some kinda mistake on her part too I guess. But you'd think she'd double check the author list!

I'd maybe ask her politely what's up with that. Like thanks for the thought but you sure I didn't accidentally get added or something? See what she says. Maybe she'll fess up to being sneaky or it really was an honest mix up.

Honestly I'd be kinda weirded out if a teacher did that without explaining. Def not cool to take credit for work you didn't do. Let me know what she says when you ask!
