Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry you're going through this. :(
This happened to many of us in a harsher time (during the pandemic, when pickings were much, much slimmer due to mass shutdowns). What we're going through now is partially a backlash of what happened for those few years.
I'll tell you what I suggest to my clients — based on having been in that position myself. Pick three days of the week that you pore your complete energy into applying for things. Don't schedule anything else. Day 1 (let's say Tuesday, which is the most common day for new job posts) is dedicated to searching for jobs, Day 2 (Wednesday) is dedicated to setting up all your letters/references/application accounts, etc., and Day 3 (Thursday) is dedicated to actually applying to the jobs. Leave the other days for something completely different — a little project at home, some light reading, gardening, a staycation… anything other than the job. Why? Because you need to allow your mind and heart to rest. This way when it comes time to interview you're not jumpy and anxious. You can walk in and shake hands and impress people with your skills, focus properly on the questions they're asking you, etc.
Hope this is helpful. IM if you need some help finding a job.

I feel bad for people right now. We're looking to hire a few people. These are not the greatest jobs. We can't afford to pay a lot right now, but I get literally thousands of applicants. It took 2 days for my indeed post to get 300 replies.
Obviously there's no way for me to give 300 people a fair chance let alone the other nearly 1200 people who responded so far.
There's a lot of people who just apply to random shit and never actually read the description. There's people who write a cover letter specifically for the job, there's people who have generic ones.
This is a creative field so one guy's resume was formatted like a brochure completed in a way that was ready for print. Like formatting, correct fonts, print colors, I could have sent it off to a company and had it mass produced with no effort. Lol why is the job market so competitive?
The there's people ghosting the hiring people. It's a thing right now that there's been a lot of lying about work history going on. I thought this was exclusive mostly to the creative world but I hear stories from people I know in other industries.
I think at this point the besylt way to get a job is to network the fuck out of yourself and get professional help with your resume or go to a staffing agency, or pick a new profession honestly, there's plenty of jobs that need more workers.
I certainly wouldn't complain if more people started businesses that needed marketing 😂
I lost my job in 2020 because of Covid. I was planning on just retiring until Biden became president and the cost of everything doubled. I collected unemployment for 18 months but still could not find a job. I work in IT which is a very youth oriented field to get into. It was hard for a guy in isi 50s to get hired. Oddly enough I suddenly had two interviews about a week apart and got two job offers. So my advice is to keep a positive attitude, do not badmouth your old employer, sign up for any benefits you can get nd keep going on interviews. I do not know what you do for work but I imagine that you are good at it. You seem fairly intelligent and have a good personality. I do not know this for sure , you might be an asshole that has us all fooled. 😊😊😊😊
I am really curious how people, such as yourself try to find a job. I mean, exactly what do you do?
Is it just on your computer getting hooked up with LinkedIn and waiting for a response?
Do you physically go into banks and submitting your resume in person? I call it pounding the payment.
Is your resume top notch when people look at it? Did you do your own resume or take it to a professional to make it stand out from the others?
My biggest problem when I was job hunting was that I didn't speak Spanish. Now the language barrier might be a very strong deterrent if you only speak English - especially when we just got 10 million plus people that don't speak English. And naturally they will be using banks eventually when they get jobs.
My battery on my phone is almost zero so I gotta go.

there is a recession in the job market... so you have to look in places where your skills are actually needed...
It's similar to software development... people send applications and companies don't even answer... not even thanks, fuck off...As for your office it saddens me to hear you lost your job & although your office may have closed I was wondering if your company did as well? If your company didn’t close maybe you should give them a call & see if there are any positions anywhere in the company. As for the 200 plus jobs you applied for you should reapply & call those companies back & at that time maybe they weren’t hiring but maybe they are now.
On yeah. Couldn't find anything and got zero responses for a year after applying every single day. Shit's crazy nowadays, it's stressful

sell your home and come to Texas... there's work everywhere
I’ve been through this lots.
Check if there’s any retraining programs with your state - got laid off and need to be trained in a different field of work?
Or get a ticket to work as a traffic control person. I did that with Covid - our country gave everyone $2000 month for a year and I got a car and a decent job pays like 30$hr while others got all drunk and high. I got out of the hole and doing much better.Yup. 74 applications so far. There is always ten other people applying for the same job before they cut off the intake.
this will continue. we are headed towards a recession/already in a recession.
I saw this coming in 2007/08
I'd started my own business before then but I've just stuck with thatPay for a professional resume. It will be worth every penny.
