Don’t they realize that those little luxuries can really add up over time?

I already don’t drink coffee at all, not any from a major retailer, or at home. I’m still poor. The idea that giving up Starbucks will somehow increase your financial living standard is bullshit.
You want to criticize a generation that has enormous obstacles to education, career advancement, owning real estate, saving, retiring and even food, transportation & dating? Their ONLY way out is waiting for their parents or grandparents to DIE? We as a society fucked them over in every conceivable way and they can't have a beverage that brings joy to their soulless existence?
Coffee costs me like $0.50 a day. It's not a huge expense. Water out of the well is free and I drink coffee black without milk or sugar.
It's only your fancy overpriced coffee from places like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts where it is very expensive. Probably doesn't cost 25 cents a cup to make at home from coffee in a can.
Many people don't realize how small, frequent expenses like daily coffee add up significantly over time. It's often because these purchases feel minor compared to larger expenses. In my experience, breaking down costs into a monthly or annual total can provide clarity. When I advised a client on budgeting, we looked at daily spending habits and identified areas where cutting back could improve financial stability. By redirecting some of those funds into savings or investments, they achieved greater financial goals. Tracking and evaluating these habits can lead to more mindful spending decisions.

I think it's psychological. Some people tell me they can't cope unless they have entertainment or indulgences once in a while. It's not something I can relate to since I don't need indulgences to be satisfied with my life.
You are absolutely right! Think about spending several dollars a day several times a week, over the months. $5 per day/5 times a week = $1200/ year!
That's so accurate and probably why ☕ 🥤 whatever are people buying, beer, luxuries, fashion purchases, beauty treatments : a new car accessory lol 😆
The point you are making is valid, but. . . if you review all of the questions you have already asked, they are ALL critical or judgmental of other people. Do you have anything else to offer?
In Downtown Windsor, I get folk begging for a toonie (our two-dollar coin) for coffee or for one while they're quaffing a Tim Horton's.
I was NOT a fan of Tim Hortons. Tasted like dishwater.
@DrPepper12 It was good until a few years back, now they're getting their beans from "ethical " sources. Wonder if that means it's plant-based?
I don't know I used to order chocolate infused coffees and for my wife chamomile and cardamom but all of that s*** just got way too expensive
Because 6 dollars a day isn't going to make or break you when rent is 2200
You need to reevaluate your budget if you can't afford a coffee everyday
coffee is a necessity, not a luxury...
@DryGermanGuy yeah, it's me in the morning :D
I have cut it out because I added it up.
I would never spend ten bucks for coffee.
