I'm applying for new jobs.
One is asking me for a reference but the person I worked with is no longer there as that email bounced back.
Would you contact your previous boss on Facebook as I can't get through on LinkedIn.
Thanks

I think Facebook is fine. I haven't used my Facebook account since 2009. There is no problem reaching out, but don't necessarily expect a response. I agree Linkedin is preferred as a site for business communication.
Most people sufficiently senior to give you a reference either have available email or phones you can reach directly or through a switchboard. They are probably sufficiently busy that it may take a few days to receive a response. But if they valued your working relationship they will almost always reply, in my experience.
You're how old and don't know you can fake a whole resume?
I would only do it if it's the last resort. But you should really keep ex-bosses numbers in your phone for future reference just in case the email doesn't work anymore. I have most of my ex-bosses numbers in my phone for a reference. But if you really think this person would be a good reference, I would certainly do it. Just make sure the message is professional.
In professional scenarios, it's best to use official channels. However, if LinkedIn and email are unavailable, reaching out via Facebook can be appropriate. Ensure your message remains formal and respectful, and explain your situation clearly. They may appreciate the effort and context.
