Why are there so few black nurses at hospitals?

Living in nyc, I notice that vast majority of nurses tend to be white or Asian. Black nurses tend to work in places like long term care aka nursing homes or home care.

Black people make up less than 14% of the population in America. Of course their won't be as many. Asians have about half that as a population but they have different cultural and societal values traditionally.

I think it has to do with the fact that black people are more rude and difficult to work with. This is coming from a nurse who attended nursing school with majority black students. Harder to obtain jobs such as hospitals positions tend to be more competitive than nursing home jobs

I work t an urban college. They have a very reputable nursing program and there are many black nursing students. I think that it might be the hospital you stayed at

No. I have been to multiple hospitals throughout nyc

I am a little surprised at that. During my last hospital stay there were many black nurses on the floor one in particular used to administer IV antibiotics and she just pushed them really fast into the IV. It really hurt the way she did it

I live in NYC, where all sorts of people exist.

I think its because the blacks tend to be ghetto and have bad attitudes. Trust me, there is no shortage of black nurses in my city. I actually went to nursing school with blacks, majority of them from the ghettos, they have the worst attitudes ever. Not all of them, but A LOT of them.

they're a lot nastier to you if you aren't black, compared to if you were.
