Do you know anyone who can work, but chooses not to? What is the worst reason you've heard?

There are people who legitimately can't find a job, even after applying to hundreds of jobs. For example, the jobs have moved far away from them, and so even if they apply to a job two states away, they are disqualified because they aren't local, and their applications aren't considered. That's a real thing.
But there are some people who whine and complain that they can't get a job, but they either really don't want to work or they only want to work a comfortable, high-paying, upper-class job and just make excuses. For example:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/uyFlWffvo-oPatrick Bet-David has dozens of videos where he has offered to give people a job - people who complain that they'd do anything for a job but no one will give them a chance - and yet, when given a real offer, they suddenly have a dozen reasons why they can't accept it. Those are the people I can't stand.
I know lots of people who can work but they’re not always working. It’s very common for people in skilled trades to chase big jobs with lots of overtime opportunities. Thousands literally drive around the country working here and there for months at a time. They make so much money that they don’t need to go right back to work when the job ends. So they take some time off, enjoy life and spend some of that hard earned money. Then go and find the next one.
There are hundreds of jobsites and contractors that rely heavily upon these “deadbeats” in order to get big jobs done quickly and done right.
The worst reason i’ve heard is “i have to stay home to take care of my cat”, and her cat is perfectly fine and healthy… come on it’s a bigass adult cat not a newborn baby
Laziness/entitlement. I know someone who claims to be job hunting but is too comfortable living on his parents' dime to be serious about a search.

Everyone I know who doesn't have a job has applied to thousands of jobs. Some have even been willing to work in a number of different nations. Most of them are Computer Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Mathematicians, Chemists, Biologists, and other STEM professionals. I know people that went to top engineering schools and have graduate degrees who worked for six figures at fortune 500 companies who struggle to even get a job at Dairy Queen at the moment. Things aren't great right now and have been very bad for a long time for a lot of people.
If you have a way and the money, you're best bet is probably to start a small business at the moment. While the economy is improving in certain areas, what is returning is a different economy. People will have to retrain again which isn't great considering how many people are underwater on student loans... many of whom just retrained a decade ago.
This is 100% bullsh*t. Who do you think will believe that nonsense?
@Chazmatazz269 I don't really care if you believe me or not... I know many people that worked for Citrix, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, Amgen, etc. all of whom are now unemployed and can''t find work in their fields. One was working at Pizza Hut for a while and got canned and is looking for anything at the moment. Another was working as a hotel receptionist for a bit but got shit canned and is looking for anything. Two went into the video game business and are just barely scrapping by while living in Vietnam at the moment running their own small business... It is what it is. If you have a good, don't leave because it isn't easy out there.
AI replaced me. Welcome to the 21st Century. Strap yourself in and keep your arms and legs inside the ride... it's going to be long and bumpy so you may as well learn to suck it up, princess, and get some skills that require creativity or physicality.
There is this minuscule group of anarchic extremists, who argue that any work you do would be forced on you. It's about the dumbest reasoning for not working I have read so far.
The worst reason for not working? A global depression. That would be an environment with no jobs, bread lines, and no hope.
The question is people who can work but don't
Yeah, and in a depression there are a lot of people who can work but don’t because there are no jobs.
But you want to focus on feeling superior to a few people who you think have worse values than you.
I think it’s a lot worse to have millions out of work in a depression.
But you go with whatever your conservative brain needs to feel good about yourself.
Who said ideology has anything to do with it? And I'm talking under normal circumstances.
when you owe money... lol
I know a couple people who refuse to work... just so they don't have to meet their financial responsibilities, lmao
If you have a medical or brain deformity like ADHD - you really can't work with that going on in your head.
Right, but I'm talking about those who can work but don't.
"I'm waiting for the right opportunity to come along." There are worse excuses but that is the worst that I have actually heard.
People believing they shouldn't have to work, and instead expecting government handouts.
You're getting benefits out the ass so, you don't NEED to work!!
Someone told you that?
A number of people have ADMITTED IT on video!!
there is very few jobs where i live , its extremely seasonal , lots of jobs during the summer that are part time or only for a few months than by winter place is half empty
These:
Because you're attending every protest going.
You've applied for hundreds of jobs, but can barely get an interview.
Simples...
You are too old and nobody wants to hire you.
Illegals who think they are entitled to - darn near everything- with zero effort.
Too busy protesting whatever protest is going.
Meh, some people live in a really crappy country, they don't have much choice,
I'd rather live off food stamps and welfare.
“I don’t want to work for someone else “
Being a lazy ass fuck.
Retired people and rich people
Lack of drive.
