For an Administrative Assistant role, both are great choices as long as they look professional. A knee-length pencil skirt is a classic, traditional look that screams professionalism. However, tailored dress pants paired with a nice blouse can look very modern and organized. Since you'll likely be moving around or filing, pants might be more comfortable! Good luck with the interview!

Definitely a skirt and a nice blouse tucked in and if you have a blazer to match the skirt that would look very professional.

For an administrative assistant role, either can be appropriate; the key is professionalism and comfort.
I usually advise:
- Pants: Safest, especially in more conservative or male‑dominated offices. Dark, tailored slacks with a blouse and blazer look polished and practical.
- Skirt: Also fine if it’s knee‑length or slightly below, not tight, and you feel confident in it. Pair with neutral tights if the environment is formal.
If you’re unsure about the company culture, go with well‑fitted pants and a simple blazer—professional, modern, and low‑risk.00 Reply

2 moWear the power pants. Assert dominance.

2 moDepends on the company and the person interviewing you. If it is a small business then it may be difficult to determine, but if it is a larger business you should try to find out what the "corporate culture" is like there. How do women normally dress? You want to be in that zone. Also is the interviewer a man or a woman? If it's a man go with a skirt. You have to factor in as much of these things as you can to answer this question. If you can't find out enough, just pick the one you feel comfortable with.

2 moI always went with skirts, even when I applied for my art director job. Honestly, I think what matters is how the clothes make you feel. If the pantsuit makes you feel like a strong boss babe, then go for it! But if the skirt gives you a strong Femme Fatale vibe go for that.
20 Reply@Simslover92 I would put it this way, in our present society. I don't know where you live and the lifestyle there, but you can't go wrong being conservative in any job interview. Modest skirt, or NOT TIGHT-fitting pants should be fine for the interview you describe.
Every interview I have ever gone on, I dressed conservatively in two piece or even 3-piece suits.

s 2 moas long as they're business like
which of those will you usually wear the most at work? you should probably go with that one34 Reply- 2 mo
Probably the skirt

then, maybe try that outfit for the interview... then they will visualize you even more as the right candidate
as someone who has been hiring people for a bit while now... I definitely see better someone who shows up "playing the part" rather than someone who just might have been forced by their grandma... to go get a job, lol - 2 mo
I mean... it all adds-up at the end

Lol thanks
As long as it's professional, whichever one you want.

I think skirt because because the role is a helping one and I suggest then that being more feminine will convey that quality better. No body wants another aggressive boss babe.

2 moDoesn't matter. I interviewed a number of applicants. Each time I noticed their dressing attempts and compared it with their personality impression. What counts in the end is: qualification and atitude.

@Still-alive But you would look ridiculous in skirt XD
Depends on the job. If I went in a skirt I would be thanks for your application because that's not readily accepted by women and men would think to protect women from the cross dressing dude.
