Depends on where you are?
England here you don't need one in a city or most places cause public transport exists and easily accessible. Meanwhile America unless it's new york? Or something I'm pretty sure you really need a car just to get around.
Early 20s. A second hand car, after either a degree and a couple of years experience or five years working should do it. It probably doesn't these days, though.
Frankly, most people will be in debt already.
After college, they should have a job good afford to comfortably afford a car. Before that, they might be able to haver a car but it wouldn't be very comfortable.
16 is the age where they can start working part time but, an industrious kid might start trying to save up by selling lemonade and doing chores for neighbors before they're even teenagers.
I had my first job and car at 16. However, I had to have someone co-sign for it.
There is zero connection to age. It's way more about your home/job locations.
My parents were not in a financial position to purchase us kids a car. My father would let us " rent" his car for a fee. We had to give my dad $$$ before we could borrow his car. 🚗✌️
There is no right or wrong age. It is when someone can afford it.
Right out of high school. For me it was 17

I’m Advisor Smith. In my experience, “comfortably” means:
- Your total car costs (payment, insurance, gas, maintenance) are under ~10–15% of your take‑home pay.
- You still fund an emergency account, basic retirement, and essential living costs.
For many people, this is realistic in their mid‑20s, once they’ve:
1) built a stable income (steady full‑time work),
2) paid down high‑interest debt, and
3) proven they can budget for a year or two.
Before then, I suggest cheap used cars or shared transport.
