I'm 32 years old and I still haven't achieved my career as an actress and singer-songwriter.
I also desire to run my own private film company in future?
Is it too late to achieve my goals and happiness?

Not at all. There's a ton of people who started at all kinds of ages. And a production company depends completely on how paitent and good of a business person you are.
Get an account on backstage, apply to some shoots, make friends with people who are interested in the same kind of projects you want to do and convince them to help out. That's all it takes.
There's a millions of viewers out there advertisers are willing to pay to put their brand in front of and now is a great time to take advantage of the shortcomings of mainstream media.
In those categories, especially nowadays, you have to knock it out of the park to even begin. And usually you have to start with big, big connections. The Five Families (which is really only one family now) have hundreds of agents, and each agent gets hundreds of submissions a day. They don't even look at anyone who hasn't come through a trusted (or valuable) personal connection.
To start a film company you're looking at, at least $1 million to be a player anyone will take seriously or even take a phone call from.
Actress categories
Age 15 -- hot teen
Age 20 -- hot single woman
Age 25 -- hot wife
Age 30 -- mom of hot teen
Age 40 -- grandmother of hot teen
And those are not far off from how it is.
It is never too late to do most things.
Thank you so much Nikki!
It's interesting to use age as an excuse for not achieving your goals.
Where have you acted? School plays? Community theatre? If you don't have a list of them, you're never going to be an actress -- kiss it good bye. You don't have the passion of people that succeed.
Do you have money? If you do, you can create a company. Maybe you'll be lucky and meet a writer and actor (s) who need a place to show. That could lead to "success".
Success takes hard work. It will not fall on your lap.
I have loads of Acting experience I just don't have an agent yet and I'm fully aware of thus.
It’s absolutely not too late.
In my 40s, I’ve coached many people who started creative careers in their 30s, 40s, even 50s. The key is focus and action, not age.
Practical path:
- Start acting classes and local theatre/indie projects now. Build a reel.
- Write songs consistently; release demos on platforms like SoundCloud/YouTube.
- Learn the business side: producing, budgeting, distribution.
- Join film and music communities; collaborate on small projects.
- Treat the “future film company” as a long‑term goal: start by co‑producing short films.
Your timeline is your own; progress beats perfection.
Thank you do much Advisor Smith!

I'm not going to sugarcoat.
Acting is a contest not a regular career. 90+% of people that want to be actresses never earn a living acting. And most of them start acting as kids and have two decades of experience by your age. Occasionally you see people move across from allied fields like modelling.
If their chance of breaking through with that history of training, experience, minor roles, discipline in the craft is a couple of chances in 100, the chance for an untrained woman to earn a living in an actress is, well, a lot lower.
Zero would be a close approximation.
I'm not an untrained woman.
I have loads of experience in acting. I just don't have an agent yet.
And I'm not a competitive person. I'm a very ambitious person. I focus on myself than on other people to be honest.
That's the only way I can succeed.
The it's possible.
Thank you!
I would suggest pick one and give it your all. Probably easier to become an actress than a songwriter or anything in music, I'm saying that as a musician. Which isn't to say you can't make music, you absolutely can, but if you're literally planning on banking on it, sorry to say it's got much less to do with skill and much more to do with luck, timing, and if you can handle the Fame Machine.
No you are absolutely right about that!
That was my plan.
Thank you do much.
No. But getting you foot in the door is going to be the hardest thing. Not to mention Hollywood despite what it pretends is kind of racist. The more contacts you have the greater your odds. At the end of the day it's about money. And in business the only color that matters is GREEN. But it's hard to convince people to bet on the unique and unproven but much of the time it's the unique and unproven that are the REAL moneymakers.
Yes you've the racism and money part right.
But in terms of the unique and unproven, I don't know?
The question is how do I get over the racism over there?
And there is no way I'm moving to LA by myself.
How do you get over the racism. Well i have no easy answer for that. Denzel was in the business a good 15 years. Before he got leading man work even though it was clear he had leading man chops from the beginning. And for a black woman it's much harder since most Hollywood producers are men.
I'd say always remember it's about the work. Look at how many bit parts Octavia Spencer had before her breakthrough in The Help. And in my opinion i thought her performance in Coach Carter was much better. And that's kind of the point. Bringing intensity to every role even if she felt it beneath her, because it's about the work, got her on someones radar. And got her her chancw to shine, and she killed it when she got that chance. She new her value even if it hadn't been recognized. She just kept building her resume. She kept making contacts.
What i meant by unique and unproven is that Hollywood loves making sequels. Because if something has been a success they view it as a non risky moneymaker. This is also why so many actors get typecast. Because the proven moneymakers in whatever genre they're typecast. But i meant it's generally the uproven and unique that make the biggest splash. But for Every Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and Good Will Hunting you get an Estella Warren. She was in the Tim Burton remake of Planet of the apes (again a reboot Hollywood loves the predictable) but she won a razzie for the worst supporting female actress. She was also in Driven (not a financially succesful movie the same year) so i think Hollywood was trying to make her the "It girl" that year. But she won a razzie for that one as well. She maintained work over the years. But she's never really had another big movie since.
Moved to Los Angeles, California pursue it heavy what kind of movies do you wanna star in? You’re gonna have to work your way to the top but don’t sleep around whatever you do. do you have any acting experience?
Okay I have thought about it. However, I'm worried about my safety over there and the racism out there is very high and I'll also need a lot of money in order to move out there first.
I would love to star in Action, Sci-fi, Fantasy, comedy, regency romance, romance, 3 D animation, anime and video games.
Definitely. I'm a very ambitious person. I just didn't have any support from my family in order to do so and I was young and not very smart at the time.
Yes I have loads of Acting training and playing a few extra roles.
However, I would like to re-do my showreel again, get into modelling and I've also need to try and get two main acting roles' paid work before I can get myself an agent.
You are Just gonna have to save up some money. Do you have a friend that can move with you out there that can help you with the bills? It’s gonna be really tough for a while, but you have to hang in there and give it a shot. Michael J. Fox used to live off sandwiches. There’s been people in really tough situations that have made it. You have to think positive.
The odds are shifting against you with every passing year but other people have achieved success in the entertainment industry later in life.
That's great to hear!
No, you may not achieve your goals, but you definitely won't if you don't try.
Thank you for the advice.
I changed careers just before I turned 40. However, show biz careers are tough. For every slot theatre is a thousand people that want it.
Competition!
The best way to get over this is to 'FOCUS ON YOURSELF'
Not at all! In fact, groundbreaking neuroscience from the University of Cambridge shows that your 30s are actually a developmental "peak". Rather than turning to mush, your brain's neural wiring settles into a highly efficient "adult mode" around age 32.
I knew that. You're probably too late to become a chess Grandmaster though, they mostly start in infancy.
Because being a grandmaster doesn't interest me!
No, it's not too late if you have the talent, and if you are persistent enough.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome
Personally, if your drive is there, then I don't think it's ever too late.
Thank you so much.
Your very welcome. Please be careful with the company you keep. If any 1 is negative about the path your choosing for yourself, u have to question their motive. No matter what path u choose, if a friend disagrees, they might talk a little shit, but they will ALWAYS root you on. Best of luck to you. I hope u not only concur ur quest, but whip its ass in the process. Lol
Thank you for the advice. I'll keep that in mind and thank you so much.
I don't believe it is ever too late! Some of us achieve our dreams later than others ☺
Thank you so much!
It's a little late to START in that profession if you're looking to be a long-term popular star, however it's not late to start with bit parts, supporting roles, commercials, etc.
My cousin started acting in musicals by accident at 24. Been doing it in local north east troups for 20 years. He has is acting guild card and he was the #1 stand in for a Broadway play. Did one show when the actor was sick. He got that far as a hobbie. If you want to make it your carrier I'm sure you could go even further
It wasn't an accident, it was his destiny.
And thank you so much for your advice.
You might be right. He was always dramatic and he achieved his dream through church in a not so religious family
Exactly!
It's not too late. Harrison Ford was almost 40 when he was cast in Star Wars. What are you doing to make this happen? Are you auditioning? Have you written songs and played them at open mic nights? Are you taking classes in acting and filmmaking?
Thank you.
I need to get two paid main acting roles without an agent first.
I also want to get advance singing lessons including opera for 5 years first.
Writing songs is very hard and I don't get out much. It's going to take time.
I'll have to travel to another city in order to do acting classes or else I'll have to do both acting and film making classes online.
I'm saving money first because I want to become a model in order to continue with my acting career and do some more singing lessons.
The actor Sidney Greenstreet was in his late 60's when he started to act...
I see... great!
Can’t see how that’s too late. Aren’t you the one looking to marry a CEO?
Thank you and yes at the same time.
It's never too late. Start working on it now.
Thank you so much!
Just be careful to set boundaries. I used to model because I wanted a career in the model industry. But I ended up in the adult film industry because of pay.
If you have agents like H. Weinstein then it's too late.
He's in prison hun! And no I don't have an agent yet- no rush.
Watch this and take it in.
No, it's not too late.
They need actresses of all different ages depending on what they are filming 🎥
Not too late and probably more realistic than marrying the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Have you been to college? Have you studied acting and filmmaking at all?
I think at your age, you need to either find a very wealthy man to support your dreams, or you better get a well-paid job and forget this idea. It really is not viable.
No it is not too late.
Thank you.
It's too early, actually
No such things.
If you say so...
Well: what substance can you contribute that makes your works meaningful?
A showreel, modelling career and an agent.
Hmmm. I see others here. Where is 'you'? Not trying to take away your dreams and visions, of course.
I'm from the UK.
No, it's not.
Thank you.
No, but it does get more challenging
Focusing on myself is way more easier and less of a challenge.
What’s stopped you until now?
No family support, stress, anxiety, depression and financial problems.
No it’s never too late.
Too late baby too late
You're not very helpful!
lol get real. you're a 5/10
Yes it is
