I have two teens, so I think about this a lot.
I don’t tie “good, stable career” to a specific age anymore. The world of work has changed too much. Instead, I look for milestones:
- Early 20s: exploring, internships, first real jobs, maybe changing directions.
- Mid–late 20s: growing skills, gaining clarity about what fits.
- Late 20s–early 30s: usually some stability – a field they’re committed to, decent income, upward path.
My real expectation: by their early 30s they feel capable, employable, and not trapped.
